Well we just did a nice conservative street detune today. Did a 150 shot pull. Did 623/650 and that was a STD Smoothing 5. So probably could have done 650/700 or so if we had put the timing back in. Running about 60/40 91/100.
Looks like we will be going to Irwindale Thursday night.

It's been really hot and humid in the shop.

Only an 1/8 mile. We will test the HP/TQ thoery.

Sorry, Paxton and Vortech are owned by the same company. I was told that they will NOT be marketing a complete Paxton kit for the Gen 3 HEMI.

    Ok..back to the Blower Subject....lol

As has been stated the current options are Vortech, ProCharger, & Bullet/Harrop
The Vortech and ProCharger are both Centri Style Superchargers, the Harrop is a Positive Displacement Blower.
The main difference is that Centri Superchargers build boost along with the linear power band of the motor, while Positive Displacement Blowers have instant boost. Both will put out plenty of power, but Positive Displacment styles can be harder on motor and transmission.

    I will post some comments

Here is my take on Procharger vs. Vortech Centri's, this is based on our personal experience w/ the Vortech on my car and Vortech's on other cars we have had a hand in.
We also have a customer w/ the Procharger kit for comparison, and we are dealers for both.
    Vortech-
Uses Water to Air Aftercooler System for cooling
Self Oiling Head unit-no tapping of oil pan required
Uses a Two Belt System-Factory Belt and a Gilmer/Cog Drive belt to drive the Blower Pulley.
Kit includes Diablo Tune, MSD Boost A Pump, 2 Bar SRT4 MAP Sensor, SRT4 Fuel Injectors, all wiring, bracketry, etc
Includes everything needed to pin the stock Crank to prevent spinning under boost.
Head Unit is good up to 20 PSI

    ProCharger
Uses an Air To Air Intercooler System
Self Oiling Head Unit-No Tapping of Oil Pan Required
Uses a three belt system, Factory Belt and two additional belts one being an 8 Rib Cog Drive for the pulley.
Kit Includes Diablo Tune, Fuel Upgrades, Ford Injectors and Spacers, Upgraded 2 Bar MAP Sensor, wiring, bracketry etc.
Head unit good to 30 PSI
Kit does not include Pin for crank or upgraded Damper, ATI Dampner must be purchased seperately.

    Differences we have noticed:
    Sound:
Procharger is louder and has a more rattley sound to the cog drive system when compared to the Vortech. Both also have a whistle sound, but are different in sound.

    Bracketry:
Both have solid Brackets, the Procharger's Is much larger and covers the whole front of the engine...is much heavier..both will do the job, the ProCharger's is probably overkill, and harder to install.

    Tune:
The out of the box tune from Vortech will get you up and runnign with no issues from day 1. Procharger's tune out of the box is not nearly as good, and will require a dyno tune almost immediately.

    Power:
Both systems seem to be putting out similar power numbers...with CMR tunes on stock SRT8 engines 500-530 has been common. The canned tune from Vortech seems to be putting 470-480 before the CMR. Not sure anyone has dynoed a Canned tune from Procharger.

    Intercooler sytem piping:
Vortech has everything on top, the filter mounts directly to the front of the head unit, and the tubing is large and unrestricted. The heat exchanger is large enough to do the job but small enough to where it does not block the entire radiator. In addition all the tubing is made of aluminum.
Procharger has very restrictive tubing for the intercooler, and it is made of plastic vs Aluminum. The filter is mounted down in the bumper/fender. The Tubing bend goes from round to flat to get to the filter mounted in the bumper, and does so again when coimng up the other side to get to the intake.
Because it is Air to Air, the Heat Exhcanger is larger, and takes up more space behind the grille. This does block more air going to the factory radiator.
My car w/ a Vortech still runs the same Radiator temps as when I was stock, our customer w/ a Procharger is consistently running very hot, we think this is due in part to the larger intercooler that blocks more of the airflow to the Radiator.

Both are great systems, and it comes down to personal preference. Personally, I prefer the Vortech System after having seen both. To answer the original ?. I think most likely the P1SC will suit your needs, unless you plan on an insane amount of boost. It can always be upgraded later in necessary.

I want to chime in on the vortech head unit supporting 20psi. After talking with vortech while I was up there last they informed me that I am running the head unit at 72% efficiency. What this means is that while it will support more it will also produce a ton more heat. I was told by their people that if I was considering a forged bottom end and wanted to run 10-12psi or more and make over the 650hp mark I would be better off stepping up a notch to the T trim. Now i am sure it will support more but why increase the intake temps if you dont have to...just throwing my 2 cents in. :)

What are you putting out hp wise in current form? Other than the pistons are you doing a custom blower cam as well?

Correct..I would not suggest it, but it is capable of it. The nice thing w/ Vortech is that a T trim will fit the same braketry as an S trim :)
Lisa has been through all these iterations on her Mustang...S-Trim to T- Trim to now a YSi trim lol!

That ysi is a beast. I am looking at the t trim as it will support 900-1000hp no problem.
