I think we need to get rid of vehicles all together and start with the horse & carriage again.

I understand the young and stupid and yes, we don't know what happened. My best friend in high school got her head tore clean off because driving too fast on a wet road and coming upon a logging truck stopped perpendicular across the end of a sharp turn kind of does that. If she'd been more experienced she would have known not to drive at or above the speed limit on wet roads and not to slam the brakes and to aim AWAY from the rear axle of said loaded truck. But she wasn't and she died, horribly and her wonderful family decided it'd be cool to have an open casket and I'm stuck with that image the rest of my life. And she had a humdrum pontiac grand prix.

Mostly I posted this because it was so shocking how completely obliterated that corvette was and sad that not only is the driver dead, but the 17 year old girl unfortunate enough to be in the passenger seat.

Yeah, I HATED that stupid Tercel I had to drive right out of high school, and I still got into a stupid accident (wet pavement), and fortunately I didn't die. Still, after nearly 15 years of driving and lots of experience with what and what not to do behind the wheel, I wouldn't go near a corvette, just because it requires that much more effort not to be a stain on the pavement. In some ways I thank whatever higher power that my first car was a 4 banger and NOT a V8. Hmm, I have no point here..anyway...

my first car was a POS nissan maxima that i was happy if the god damn thing moved let alone broke a speed limit! lol...

once i learned how to drive that piece of garbage around....i got a Lexus ES300 which was considerably faster (but by no means a sports car)....

then so on and so fourth until here i am now with an SRT lol....

i am much smarter now than i was in HS when i too almost killed myself and quite a few other people by driving like an asshole....i was luckly...learned from my mistakes....and now am a better driver because of it....sadly....this kid and his g/f werent so lucky...thats what makes driving that way so stuipd and why i never do it now....cause when you drive like that on roads like that....its just that....luck that you not die....not skill...you cant control a animal running out in front of you, or a car turning onto a road, car changing lanes, pedestrian walking across the street....

    no skill in that...just luck....

sorry he had to go out that way....sorry he had to take the girl with him.....he shouldnt have been driving the Corvette....thats the parents fault...i know some really rich people....none of them have 18 year old kids who pay for their own corvettes....

I just don't know how I am going to handle it without using firearms when some kid sporting tats and piercings pulls up on a sport bike to take one of my three daughters out for a spin.

Talk to any emergency room doc about crotch rockets and kids. Most kids can't afford a Vette, but a bike is another story.

Just another reason why kids shouldn't have high powered vehicles. In Australia laws now prohibit anyone under 21 to drive anything other than a shopping cart and there are harsh penalties (as well as vehicle seizure) if you get caught driving something else.
