Oh I hope so...I think this is what I heard about a few years ago where they wanted to "retire" all the old muscle cars since you know, they just suck up gas and pollute the air.

What?! This probably isn't going to effect anyone here but I can't see how this is good news. Maybe that link was just to the page and the news story changed?

Or are you thinking lots of people were turning in their old chargers for the $400 instead of fixing them to meet smog. I thought that was the program where they would pay for some of the repair cost to meet smog or, if it qualified, you could turn your car into the authorized scrap center for a few hundred dollars (I don't there there were any within hundreds of miles of the bay area).

The referee part is what's confusing to me. I've been there, had to do that, so with no referee anymore what does that mean? Your modified car that needs the ref ok to smog it is now un-registerable?? Or are they just gonna say it's fine and not require a smog check and register it or what? Hmmm, very intersting ...

I think they are saying that any shop that is smog certified can do now. I guess the only good part is that with the ref. you had to pass a visual inspection as well as emissions test.

Any SMOG station will be able to "ref" the car. We all know how those guys work......
