I've been eyeing the tires on the GCSRT8 for awhile now. I even went to America's Tire a month back or so to have them looked at. I pretty much expected them to push me to buy new ones, but this establishment has always been good to me for the past several years(even though I always worked with different people) so I went there. The tech came out to the ride and was very appreciative of the SRT8 :D. Anyhoo, he took out his measuring tool and told me that I'd be wasting money right now if I bought new rubber. He didn't want to guess on how long I had, but he figured 6 months minimum when I pushed him for a guestimate. Well, I just took a 418 mile drive from Los Angeles to Arizona yesterday crusing at 90 for at least 2 hours without issue. I get off work today and pulled into a parking spot with the wheels turned all the way out to the right. As I hopped out of the ride, light reflected off the tires on a particular spot. I thought it was a nail or other debris that might wipe off........nope. Twas the steel belt popping out an inch or so in one spot and I can feel it in another spot that I can't even see yet. Sooooooo now I'm away from home and all the people I know and the places I know and need to find new tires at a reasonable price fast. I want to get the Michelin Latitude HP 275/40ZR20 and 315/35ZR20. Currently I'm in the Phoenix/Scottsdale area. Any help is appreciated!

Wow. Nothing to do with your immediate problem at hand but...

If a tire store guy says you're ok for a little while that means you have more than 2/32" of tread. Unless you're doing burnouts or tracking it, 2/32" of tread should last you, at the very least, a few thousand miles.

So... it sounds like the tire guy didn't check tread depth all the way across the tread. Kind of inexcusable for a tire shop. Probably one quarter to half of their customers come in with uneven wear due to alignment problems. Probably half with uneven wear due to improper inflation. Sounds like you should get a good alignment job shortly after you get new rubber. No problem waiting on the alignment till you get back home.

Actually now that I think about it, some GC guys have had uneven tread issues but mostly early on. I actually have 23K on the stockers which is pretty good considering the track record of most people. And the previous issues were tire issues and not alignment issues. Still a great recommendation I didn't think of doing though! Thanks QUick!!!! Not driving the GC back to Cali either. I'm moving out this way and commuting via plane for awhile now that the GC is here. Need to find a place out this way and get the family, the zoo, and the possessions all out here.

America's Tire is Discount Tire. Their home office is in Scottsdale. Prices should be the same or better there.

Yeah, like I said I kinda pushed the guy to giving me a number and he said the same thing about my driving habits etc. I never looked at the very inside before, but will from now on. I'll be getting an alignment with tires for sure.

Thanks for the offer Dan as I truly appreciate it! Shawn at Power Dodge is hooking me up. Jay called Leon out here with the 2 Chargers/and Chally (he is or at least was GSM's customer as I met him out there awhile back). Leon then had Shawn call me. I'm not getting the tires I originally wanted which were the Latitude HPs as he could not get them, but instead the Toyos Proxes. I'm getting the Toyo's for 836 installed which is perty damn good. Had he been able to get the HPs, they would have been 1,340 installed. Central Texas Hemi (Wade) located them for me at Big O out her for me (thanks Wade!), but they want 1,840 installed. It's kinda hard for me to justify spending that type of coin at this time, moving, selling, etc.
