Ok I have purchased the SBC stage II. It has been professionly instald. It goes into gear fine. You start the car its stiff going into first and then it starts rolling forward as if you were letting out on the peddle with the clutch peddle fully engaged. Once the car is moving it shifts and runs fine. it also dose this in reverse. I think the forks need to be replaced after reading some of the past threads. Could it be the Slave cylinder? Is there a # to reach SRT by chance an talk to someone over the phone who is more familiar with these cars then the people and dealers around here!
I havn't yet, but i'm going to now after reading the "Why its important to change your fork", fourm. Is that probably all it is?
from reading your first post and hard to get it first and rev im going to say yes and the reason its ok in 2-5 is cause its really close to rev matching shifting
if its in nutral when you start it you cant put it into gear, or atleast i'm to scared to force it because I never have had to push that hard and it still wouldn't go! But if its in 1 it will start but it rolls like your trying to take off. Also in Reverse the same way. I didn't try and do this in any other gear. There is no griding or anyting, and when you press the clutch in it dosn't feel like normal. There is pressure but something isn't right.
its the throw out fork how many miles on the car what is happening is the clutch is not fully disegaugeing cause the of the wear on the throw out fork cant put the TOB forward enough
about 47,ooo the clutch went out if you remeber discussing that with me. I still dont have the car, its in the shop. Ok so do I order these through chrystler or is it something you buy aftermarket to make it better? And the forks were initally what I thought when this came up, but the machanic thought it could be the slave cylinder.
miles seems right to replace it, u can get the fork from PTP,S&P,mopar supercenter i believe there like $140 there is no aftermarket for it the only thing u could get to it is cryo treated and i dont think its the slave to be honest u can see if it moves with the big plastic cover if its leaking than maybe
it could be but what u have to understand is that its a wear idem also it could really goof up your synchronizes in the tranny cause it puts more stress on them
How often do these need to be replaced? Is this an ongoing ordeal that I will look forward to replacing every 40K miles. Why dose this item wear like this? What dose it wear on a supposed on moving part? the TOB dosn't move correct or atleast the side that the forks grab.
when ever u do the clutch u should replace it,it wears cause the pressure it gets from the TOB to the pressure plate and most of the time its dry and when its dry it wears faster, the TOB has a bearing in it so that it can spin when it pushes against the pressure plate so that it doesnt wear the fingers down
ok, that clears up alot of questions. Is there any signs to look for other then the clutch going out? If the forks go out b4 my new clutch, which it seems to be alot tougher then the stock one.
its just one of those things which shit happens but lube helps with the install and also on the pivot ball (the while ball looking thing)
Before tearing into it again first try adjusting the clutch pedal. After my SBC stage 3 install I had to adjust it a bit to get full disengagement.
