I love the Challenger and plan on buying one....but do I want to buy a numbered first edition 2008 or wait for a new 2009 or maybe a used 08/09?.. I think Dodge has made a mistake waiting till end of the model year to bring out the 08.....09s will be out in about 60 days...plus the 09s offer more options than the 08s......looks to me like 08s are beginning to gather dust in dealers showrooms........there are 6 challengers within 20 miles of me...4 orange, 1 black and 1 silver...........my dealer has already offered me an orange one at retail (without me asking)........right now all are priced at $20 over...:getlost: I am wanting to get an idea what everyone has paid so far....this poll is nameless so please be honest..
msrp, but with no tax tag title fees, jsut striaght out 41,?795? LOLOL shoot dont remember whatever sticker wuz
oops , its late:thanks: yeah mine came off the truck with a small boo boo, and so I negotiated the little bit off, not much , but a touch
I paid $4,700 over a month ago, but sold it instantly for $13,000 over. My 2nd one came in this week. They asked me to pay $5,000 over. I told them no. They waited a couple days and asked $2,500 over. I told them no. We're now in the next phase: I told them sticker and give me 20K for my car. One went through the auction here today. Bidding stopped at $43,600 ($1,600 over) and the car didn't sell. Sticker is the most I would pay. And the 2009's are already out. Friend of mine got an R/T over a week ago. My dealer is now sitting on three 2008 models, and starting to get nervous. These are going to be sitting on lots everywhere and dealers are going to have to start dumping them. Invoice is probably doable within 60 days.
Sh!t...if I could afford it, I'd buy that Orange one at retail...Of coursre I would try for lower first. :bigwink:
Larry...did you see this thread? http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6251 People had to know it was coming lol...
YOu have to remember: I bought my SRT-8 as about the 10th one ever in private hands, 6 days after the first SRT-8 ever was sold to the public. I watched all the huge premiums people paid. I also noted how many SRT-8's were trickling out to the public. 200 in the first 45 days. Then the 2006's came out and they were making/selling about 400 a month. Prices dropped within about 5 months back then after only about 2000 cars total had hit the market. This time around, there was tons of hype, but Chrysler dumped over 6,000 of these on the market in 45 days. 2009's are already out, and there's no benefit to a "limited edition" of 6,400 cars. Dealers that didn't sell quick are going to be stuck trying to move these at invoice.....soon. The cars that will sell at invoice are the ones you're seeing on the lots today. The only question is how long the dealer wants to stare at the cars before starting to drop the prices. Doesn't mean I don't think the Challenger is a great car (I do), it just means I think supply is exceeding demand. (BTW: I think gas was about $2 a gallon when the first 16mph gas guzzling SRT-8's came out. $4 a gallon is a different beast.)
I agree. I have been watching the 08s numbers build up in the showrooms within 20 minutes of my house. My dealer actually paid $7K over retail to get a second Chally because he could not get another alloted to him.. I didnt think the 09s would be out for another 30-60 days....The dealers have to be getting really scared now with 08s sitting in the showroom...dealers have been sticking it to us on these numbered cars....may be time to turn the tables.. Yeah, I saw it. Good deal there but I can get an 09 from my dealer at dealer invoice..
Just waiting for the prices to come down and my funding/situation to improve. Soon... *rubbing hands together*
Don't forget folks... the PCM changes supposedly coming in 2009 will render all the tuning options you have on any LX or LY to be inoperative. If you have a 2008 Challenger you can do anything to it you can do to any LX. Thats apparently not going to be the case with an 09.
Oh Lord you gonna cause Mike from Diablo to have fit over that statement as I have seen that stated somewhere else and of course the rebuttle was that that very same statement was made years ago about the current PCM we have and look where we are now.
One Dodge dealer here in Houston got 15 Chally's. He sold 13 of them for $10K over sticker. He has 2 left. I ran into 2 Chally owners last weekend, at a popular car hang out. One paid $48.5K for his and the other paid $58K for his. If I buy a Chally I will wait until the prices come down and I want a 6 speed anyways. I will probably pick up a used JeepSRT, for a much better price, before I buy a Chally.
Ya, it only took three years  There's a lot to think about with what Moneypit said. It wouldn't be just software...........but heads, cams and who knows what else right now.
yeah I want on, I may use my Audi as trade bait , we'll c when the prices come down, Or use my wife car as bait and let her drive the Audi. OMG No She likes to hug the curb when she drives, lol
I paid sticker, $42K plus I bought the top warranty that covers everything adds roadside and even covers rims and tires only thing not covered windsheild for $4k.
