A friend of mine wadded up a Viper at the VIR TE a couple weeks back. he hit a gaurdrail with the front and back both. (moved the steel gaurdrail about six inches!) He was a little sore the next day, the car went under lock and key QUICK! The instructor riding with him was pretty cool about it, he explained what went wrong, and how to keep it from happening the next time ( My buddy wasn't assing off, he actually let off the accelerator too quick in an off camber turn. )
wow, when i did the TE at daytona in july 06', they did not offer the viper for us to drive on the road course..... we got to drive it on the autocross course, but the said they stop using them on the road course after and accident at homestead. of course when i tried to get a little "sprited" in the viper on the autocross course, the instructor pulled the e-brake and hit the kill switch sending me into an all out spin!!!!
Viper When we did the SRTTE in Nov '05 we got to drive the Viper on the big track at Firebird, then 2 weeks later at Laguna Seca (what a blast). Someone (I won't name names) got a Viper ass backwards out of the top of the cork screw, into the kitty litter, and instead of mashing the brake and clutch, got the throttle. The whole ass end was peppered. A new black Viper with the ass end hammered The tech's in the pits guesstimated 10k damage. At a later TE allegedly someone took a Viper THROUGH a chainlink fence, into a parking lot that is normally NOT empty. No one got hurt, but the Viper got quietly removed from the big track lineup. I enjoyed my "Spirited" laps at Laguna Seca in the Viper immensely!!!
Hope This Doesn`t Screw Up My Next T.e.at Daytona In September, went Last Year And They Only Let Us Drive The Viper In The Drifting Course,we Had To Let Instructor Drove Every Other Time...........
