They sell bear sized pepper spray. I know a guy that has one with him when he goes camping...he even tested it once for S&Gs...said it was like a fire house of pepper spray for a short burst.

Last time we went hiking we only had one set of bells. Being the stand up guys that we are we gave them to Momo... "since your legs are shorter we figured we'd let you wear the bells" :rofl::rofl2:
An oldie but a goodie. A few years ago we were sitting around the campfire late, and the local deputy came by and warned us of a big male who had been getting a little aggressive in the area. After he confirmed we had firearms available (my Winchester Defender was loaded with slugs, among others) he left and the new girl in the group -- my date, naturally, on her first camping trip ever -- began getting a jumpy as the shadows lengthened and the evil ghost bear stories got better as the night deepened. At one point a buddy of mine was going thru his tackle box and she wanted to know what the little bells with clamps on them were. He replied that they were "bear bells" and, not missing a beat, we all agreed thats what they were and they were essential this far out in the back country; their prime use being how we could better track a victim as the bear dragged them away by the sound of the bell. She didn't buy a word of it. ... But she wore a bell on her shoe for the next two days.
Dave, my legs may be short, but... Bear-human contact? Pffft! They don't call the cops up there 'mounties' because there are a ton of women running around in the great white north.
