I'm watching a live feed of the Pinks that's being filed at E-town today. They just had a pair of brand new Challenger SRT-8's do a match race down the track. One silver, one organge. Both guys did massive burnouts on street tires. Drov e straight through the burnout box, choked on the launches, and royally screwed it all up. 13.8 for the winner. 14.8 for the loser. Thanks guys. :dumb:
now correct me if i am wrong, (it has been about 20 years since i last ran the 1320)..... but wouldn't a stockish type of srt be better off driving AROUND the burnout box, do a very little spinning of the tires to clean them (i am talking about STREET tires) and proceed to the staging points???? i ask all this partly to make sure i know wtf i am doing when i get to the shin dig next week and ACTUALLY do some racing!!! lol
Bingo! For the record, I've never run as slow as 14.80 in my life. Even on the hottest day, in pure stock form, before I knew ANYTHING about how to do this. And they're lining up to go again............
Sweet Jesus! Even I know not to do that dumb shit. You can't really generate enough heat in a street tire to justify a big smoky. My first run ever was a 13.6, and I royally screwed the pooch on my launch.
wow....the only run that bad for me was done on a 92* day with high humidity....and we wanted to see what would happen if i just floored it....ended up doing about a 400' burnout hahahahahaha you know its bad when even i can beat them
We all know that the primary audience for Pinks are "nonracers" or Fast and furious humpers. The smoke show as both Matt and Chris said is pointless and harmful if anything to their times, but all the retards go to see is the smoke show.
ROFL AWD is a little harder to launch than you think, as they tend to bog down more. Or you can launch like you hate it, and in return, snap something. Sounds like two people that just don't know how to drive their SRT8's yet.
I saw a test drive of the GTR on supercars exposed. Sweet looking car....lots of pull and power. The driver was VERY impressed with how tthe car handled on the track and the street, and it is more affordable than a SRT8.....with a lot better gas mileage.
Check out one of the latest Car & Drivers, the GT-R performed like crap compared to the Vette and the Porsche. It's on newsstands now.
Streetfire had one up at Irwindale a couple of months back and basically did the same thing and embarrassed us all.
