Well, yep that car definitely crashed. What does it have to do with a bfmic or crash bar though? There's no way to tell if it would have made any difference, nothing to compare with.
Well here is the owners post. http://www.srtforums.com/forums/f24/direct-fit-big-fmic-needed-410301/#post5630547 I just found the pics and thought I would share.
Don't get me wrong, I know a crash bar helps, I just don't know if the stock crash bar is dramatically better, or just marginally better.
if you look at the stock crash bar it has weight distrubution vs an aftermarket one which is like 2 steel bars it will absorbe an impack better and will end up saving most of the engine and will cut down on the engine ending up in your lap the stock crash bar is very sturty I put in a tow anchor in the stock crash bar for in the event i do end up comming off the road course so a truck can pull me out of the dirt I got to test it out by pulling my wifes car off the trailor it got stuck on and her car weighs around 2700 lbs (her dad, and sister also witnessed this) I checked the bar the next day and everything was still sturdy
Well let me see if I can get some of my mechanical engineering buddies to do an analysis of both set ups and see what they say.
of the wrecked car or just in general? I also just found this It is a slow boy crash bar and the car was in a 35 mph crash
Unwrecked, just wondering what the stock crash bar looks like. I bought my SRT-4 with no crash bar. That Slowboy bar looks like it stood up pretty well for 35mph. 35mph is a pretty harsh impact. The Slowboy bar is by far the most robust looking of the aftermarket bars. The rest look barely bigger than a sway bar.
I agree I thought with the hollow tubes it would fold up like beer can. That pic is one of the reasons I am considering the bwoody BFMIC GB.:dancing:
So the gains are minimal if any on stock turbo. Stage 1 and 2 with a BFMIC? So 5hp? As you can see my dyno run, I had hardly ANY" heatsoak at all. All 3 runs were very close in numbers.
Just to give people a heads up we will be releasing our DCR Big Front Mount Intercooler. Same as the one we built for the "Red Sled". We will have pricing up soon.
Don't mean to ressurect this thread again. But I might have the oppurtunity to get a BFMIC for $170 shipped. New it runs for $260 shipped on eBay. Its the Godspeed unit, heard only good things about it. Should I go for it? Will I see any gains at all? Will I lose power? Performance mods: Stage 1 Injen intake 3'' 02 housing 3'' exhaust CTI chargepipe
Bahahaha resurrect this thread AGAIN! I have been running a GP DFIC and I honestly did not notice a differece at all on stock turbo. Currently Stage 3 with WI and recently I have been thinking of going with a BFMIC with a crash bar. I was talking to this guy who has been modding turbo Mopars for quite some time and he said I would really benefit with running a BFMIC as opposed to my AGP DFIC with huge core. So I am thinking about picking up an eBay one like the Godspeed or AIS.
To funny I just went the other way from big turbo back to a stocker and I just sold my MPX and I had to use the stocker for 2 weeks and that damn thing sucks I saw temps up to 150* but I just installed the new AGP direct fit the ones with the cast endtanks
Yeah thats what I am running. The thing with a ebay BFMIC (GodSpeed, SSautochrome, AIS, XS Power etc.) is that there is a huge face to cool down those temps. Yes its a 3.5'' core as to the AGP direct fits massive 4.5'' core. But there is more of a face. Still leaning on just keeping my AGP, mainly because I can retain the best crash bar, which is the stock one.
