It truly is a love-it or leave-it kind of car. There is nothing "practical" about it. It's a big-boy toy. That's why I love mine. :dance4:
Well.....I BOUGHT THE SUCKER WITH THE BLOWER! Pics tomorrow after a quick wash and discovery process. YES!!! Les
I had an SRT6, that same Aero Blue color, and it was a blast to drive. All go, a total sleeper car, because most folks have the base Crossfire, or the Limited. With that supercharger it is a rocket. And unlike us car savvy folx here, most people didn't know that the permanent spoiler was the biggest clue it was an SRT. Had a ricer-style turbo whine, not a Charger style growl, but that thing cornered on rails. $40K seems way, way high for that car, seeing how old it is. Back in the summer of 2006, then DCX employees could lease them for a song, because they had been built back in 2005 and were just sitting in lots in Europe. And they did have problems with some of the tires getting flat spots, because they hadn't moved for so long. Hopefully you can beat them up on the price and up with a sweet ride. Good Luck.
I paid $35,000.00 that includes a 6 year 60,000 mile warranty. I'm happy with the deal considering the dealer costs. He showed me a printout of all the cars on the lot. The dealer cost was $39,600 and another $6,000 in import taxes. When I hit them with $25,000 they hit me with $45,000. In 2005 they were asking $65,000 for SRT6's in P.R. just to give you an idea. If I didn't know of their rarity I would have stopped at 30. But the deal is history and I'm thrilled. I do have 2 defects that the dealer has to fix. The gas cap cover fell off in the parking lot, some dufus couldn't figure out how it opened and forced it breaking the plastic tabs that hold it on. (it snaps on) And one of the taillights is cracked. I noticed washing the car this morning, but I don't think it will be a problem. Without further ado. Pics. (If they finally are small enough)
Congrats. And it looks like you made out, because I don't think the SRT6 badges on the sides were stock. I know the SRT8 ones are like $60 each. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:2005_Chrysler_Crossfire_SRT6_AeroBlue-right.jpg And more pics at my cardomain page
I understand that the SRT6 badges on the sides are unique to the few made in 2006. In 2005 they are on the back, where I don't have one. Their is always someone who got a better deal or is in the right place at the right time. But all that really matters is, for where I live, I made out like a bandit and was in the right place at the right time and had the money. I'm thrilled with the deal I made. On the Crossfire Forums, the general belief is that only 12 or 13 were made in 2006. I have no idea myself, but they're very few. I've only driven 65 miles so far. I was worried about the tires but they are fine. I was also worried about the gas, you know how stingy the dealers are, but it was empty when I got it and now its full of 93 octane. I'm getting used to it and liking it more every time I take a drive.
Welcome to the "C" and you got yourself one very rare ride. Here's a link to a bunch of upgrade parts for your new SRT-6. Enjoy your new ride and post up any questions you have. http://www.srtconnection.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3105 Toy
Badges Some of the 2006 models have them, some don't. It may be a geographic difference. (The US ones don't have them, yet the UK, and I guess PR, have them.)
Great car, you won't regret the price on one that rare. The nice thing about the side badges is that now you can put an AMG badge on the back. Yes it is a hand built AMG engine, and the Mercedes guys get really pissed when you advertise that fact. Mine ran a 13.007 stock at Memphis last year. enjoy it
I don't know if I like the AMG emblems on a Crossfire. Still pondering how I feel about it. I would rather piss off Mercedes guys by out running them, wouldn't you? My family still lives in Memphis and when I go back to visit my brothers and I try to go to test and tune to see how much we can imbibe. I'll keep an eye out for someone with a SRT-6 the next time we go, so don't freak if some gomer starts talking to you with a spanish accent. (Can hardly speak proper southern nowadays) Les
a very good find, as long as ur pocket can handle the $35,000 for a 2seater toy u wont regret it one bit which it sounds like it wont be a problem. enjoy it. and if u want a real challenge with this car try to keep a smile off ur face for more than 30 seconds:thongue2:
The pocket is just fine, thank you very much. So many years of being stingy made it possible. Not only an 06 but paid in full. How about them apples. The learning curve has begun. The only problem so far is the car sounds unhappy going slow. Kind of bored. And the way the transmission holds the gear and engine brakes slowing down can be a drag in traffic. But man oh man is it great when doing what it does best. Not a car for everyone but everyone should have a car like this once in their lives. I'm having a blast!
well sounds like ur all set then. all thats left is to enjoy! try switching the switch by the shifter from s to w when in traffic, shifts alot smoother. but when its time to get up and go back to s :thongue2:
Hey, thats a great idea! It never occurred to me to put it in slow mode. I'll give it a try tomorrow.
