Yep....I have no choice. I've been on shore duty for three years (almost) and it is time for me to go back to sea.....problem is, there is ZERO sea duty orders for my rate/rank in San Diego....so, I am definitely leaving the area... November timeframe... I have selections in for Tinker AFB in Oklahoma, Whidbey Island in Washington, Kenohei (spelling) in Hawaii, or Point Mugu California. I'm kinda bummed, actually....of all the squadrons here in SD, I can't go to any of them..... And the worst part......no helicopters anymore.....I have to go fixed wing...I know nothing about fixed winged aircraft...I've worked on helo's my whole career..... Change sucks. /rant... *UPDATE* Going to point mugu....not too far.... *UPDATE #2* Looks like I'm leaving mid October now and going to Norfolk for a couple months......
Jeff, Whidbey Island in WA would be great. I loved Ft Lewis, WA in the three plus years I was stationed there. Of course Whidbey is just North of Seattle and I was in Tacoma. haha Change sucks at first, but once you get there and readjusted, you will be a happier person. Make the best of what you have. Oklahoma? lol Nice Beach front there. dahahahaha Tinker is a nice base.
Those are my selections, but it's up to my detailer to decide where I go... I have friends in Whidbey, so it won't be to bad...if I go there... The changing duty stations isn't so bad...but going to a whole new platform is going to suck.....

Thanks...oh, and it's the legend of Ron Burgandy...good flick. It's what they call type 2 sea duty. Since it's a P-3 squadron, they deploy to anywhere in the world for six months at a time. So I'll still be away from home, just not on a boat. That's if I go to Tinker... I don't know about any 'special' detailer....enlighten me please... And my rate is creo 3 across the board. Honestly, I don't regret being an airdale. Choose your rate, choose your fate, right??
