with that gain being mainly in your 60' time? when us common folk on street tires are struggling for traction .. its gonna create a bigger issue with a TC right? also with the added torque wouldnt you want to add halfshafts with it? its not the horsepower that snaps the halfshafts, its the torque right (or i would think)
you would be a good person ti ask, I was waiting for you to chime in.... any type of certain TC you suggest ?
FWIW: I still had stock halfshafts back when I was using a 175 shot. I don't necessarily recommend it though. It's not just the first 60', it's the multiplication of torque throughout first gear. By the time you shift to 2nd, you're above the TC anyway. But beyond just the track, it makes the car SOOOOO much more enjoyable around town.
so your def suggesting the PI TC ? i dont know much about them, but ive been reading up, and cant find a damn price lol
I just installed one from Edge Racing Converters, and it's very nice around town. I'm racing Friday night, and will do an all motor pass to see what time I get on the motor. Then I'm plumbed for a 300 shot and we'll see how that does.
nice to see im not the only one running edge's tc! they offer one out of the box and one that is built to suit your specific application/ desired result. i talked to andre for a half hour before i chose them over the others.
The TC is good on the street with regular street tires, but ya gotta be carefull with the throttle off the line or you'll smoke the tires even easier than before. Make sure you got a good set of street tires(meaning not the shitty RSA's) and the TC will launch you better off the line and from a roll in 1st gear. Also if I'm in drive doing about 20-25MPH and mash the pedal to the floor it'll kick-down into 1st gear and pull harder than without having the TC. IMO though, the performance gains from having the TC can't be fully had with street tires.
