Can You Guys Please Help Me Decide On An Exhaust For My Srt8

I HAVE AN '06 300 SRT WITH HIGH FLOW CATS, MOPAR CAI, DIABLE CMR TUNE AND HAVE BEEN WANTING TO GET AFTERMARKET EXHAUST FOR OVER ONE YEAR NOW. I CANNOT DECIDE WANT TO GET, BUT HAVE NARROWED IT DOWN TO A FEW.

THESE ARE SORT OF MY CRITERIA:

NO DRONE
QUIET AT CRUISE
DEEP AND THROATY SOUND AT WOT


OTHERS HAVE TOLD ME THAT I AM ONLY LEFT WITH CORSA OR B&B. I WAS WONDERING IF ANYBODY HAD SIMILAR MODS TO MINE AND COULD RECOMMEND AN EXHAUST. I AM OPEN TO OTHERS IF THEY ME THE ABOVE CRITERIA.

REALLY LIKE THE B&B FOR SOUND AND LOOK BUT CANNOT GET AN HONEST ANSWER FROM THEM ABOUT DRONE. COULD SOMEBODY PLEASE GIVE ME SOME GOOD ADVICE

PS DON'T REALLY LIKE THE RASPY SOUND CORSA HAS BUT EVERYBODY HAS TOLD ME THIS IS THE WAY TO GO. SORT OF CONFUSED.

 

corsa has the least drone but has a raspy sound

magnaflow has a bit of drone but has the best sound

zoomer has hardly any drone but has a glass pack sound

just search youtube or your local meet and greets for the differences between the exhausts, its all about what you like.

 

i think zoomers would probly be your best bet. they wound mean at WOT but you cant hear them at cruising. my magna's are pretty loud at cruising speed

BWoody makes a great exhaust as well. Look in BWoody's forum. They have a video of a stock 6.1 with their exhaust, and I also have some video's of their exhaust. Of course I have LT Headers, no cats, lower compression (9.5:1) pistons and a blower, so the exhaust note is a bit different. lol

Corsa's will definitely be the quietest in the cabin, but are a bit raspy.
I have not heard the B&B in person to know if there is drone or not. Magnaflow, JBA and most others will cause some interior noise. I have the Bassani Cat Back on my car. The Bassani is actually pretty quiet inside at Highway speeds, but there is noticable cabin sound at around 40 mph. Everyone has different taste, so go with the sound that you like.

I just got my zoomers installed this weekend on my SRT8, 3" pipe all the way back. It is quite at low RPM you can definately hear it when you accelerate and at WOT it is very very nice. I would recommend them if you dont mind hearing a little bit of rumble when doing city driving.

drkness said it best, they do sound a bit like glass packs but they are to me a great balance between not to loud but still sound really nasty when you get on it.

I have the billy boat ... it it loud at WOT, but quiet always in the car ... little drone when your in autostick and your in 2nd when you should be in 1st .. rpms are real low .. but that will happen with any exhaust I would think ...

i had this same problem .. i went with the billy boat and have no regrets ...

talk to eddie at southern hot rod (supporting vendor) he will get you a good deal

 

Like others have said ... Corsa or Zoomers. Zoomers is louder at idle and around town however your criteria ...

... really is Corsa to a tee! That's what I have and love it.

I might suggest one other thing ... try going to a m&g or hooking up with someone you know that has the Corsa and someone that has the Zoomers so you can hear first hand the sound.

 

Magnaflow has a great sound but the drone will get to you after a while, B&B was pretty good until the mufflers fell apart. Corsa is not on yet but ive heard great things. Install coming soon, its sitting in my garage.

 

Corsa,

* NO drone. none.
* stock volume when cruising, a bit louder under partial throttle (very nice sound), VERY loud at full throttle (a bit of a rasp -- more like a Braaaakk than a rumble. I like it, very nice sound)
* I think the quality is second to none.

(above opinions arrived at in a Magnum)

 

You don't want Zoomers, even at cruising its a background purr. Corsas seem to be the least obtrusive at cruising speeds if that's what you're going for. Granted, if I wanted a quiet SRT-8, I'd have left the exhaust stock. :happy:

I got the Zoomers BECAUSE they were loud though... And they set off car alarms with sheer bass rumbliness.

Yea, I heard my first Zoomers a couple of weeks ago at the dealer. They were doing an oil change on a MSRT8 and I was talking to my service advisor. They finished and started it up and I immediately did a double take going, "What the hell was that??" VERY SWEET SOUND, very muscle-car like, only a bit loud for me. I likey tho!

Only thing bout the Corsa is it does step up a notch in pitch, it's not as deep a tone as stock or other exhausts, it took me a while to get used to. But I like it now, ESPECIALLY at WOT!!!

 

Yeah, the Zoomers speak to the cockles of your soul...or something deep like that. Makes me go teehee whenever I start her up or WOT. :love:

Is that right Tam, 122 dB at WOT????? Then you'd get black flagged at Laguna for sure. Do you know that 122 for a fact? How'd you find out??
