I heard that there has been a bunch of problems, and recalls with the Jeep. Also was told the interrior falls apart. Can someone confirm this or allborate on it please.
You will hear all sort of owners experiences amongst all brands. Myself, I'm all Mopar, I find very little wrong w/the Jeep. All vehicles have TSB/recalls(well most) this doesn't mean they are junk(IMO). The only recall I'm aware of is the computer flash concerning the brakes, which I haven't even had done(my brakes work fine). JMHO.
Everything hold up find? Is there any known problems, does or donts? Like with the ram I have, I have learned never go WOT in 4th gear and stay away from 2nd prime. I am not worried about TSBs, I do know all manufacture have them.
Well, I've had mine ~2yrs & only have 8k miles, but I've have no problems that were anything but cosmetic. My dealer takes care of any of my minor issues. I'm not saying I think the Jeep is perfect, or that there isn't room for improvement. I have heard of only a very few ever breaking that were bone stock, now those w/over 600hp that's different. I'm not completely happy w/some things like my wheels are corroding under the clear(I drive mine yr round in the north). What yr Ram? I had a '99 WJ before w/no tranny problems at all, & I had no fear of WOT(bone stock).
what are some of things you dont like about it? Now if I get a Jeep it will be a daily drive for my in Alaska, is there anything I should look out for? My ram is 04, the tranny i think is find from 0-WOT its the down shift kick downs that cause problems
There are some things I would have done differently if I was making the Jeep. The interior would have had softer panels, dash/door. The wheels would be chromed. I really don't have many/any complaints. I could go on about improvements, but then some thing would make the price jump too high. Such as a real LS rear end, & a real trac control delete.
is the drivetrain strong enough to handle the stock power? All the mods I think I will do would be a CAI, predator tune and maybe a muffler. Will it hold up to that?
I think the drivetrain easily handles the stock/litely modded power. I only have CAI & Catback, never had any issues. SRT engineers claim 600hp is the limit.
From my experiences with the jeeps (and all SRT's) is... understand what your getting and for what price....think of the huge performance at what is the same price as a "normal' but granted fully loaded vehicle. and i think you might have an issue with the truck cause I have an 05 (which i believe are exactly the same pretty much) and i have no tranny issues at all.
yea your 05 is the same, and if it has the hemi in it then you have the same tranny and the same "built in" problem, the tranny. go to dodgetalk.com and search 2nd gear prime
Mine is going t be 2 yrs in August. Has around 7500 miles and I have had only the common problems. Trans leak(tsb) Auto up window(tsb) still haven't gone in to get that fixed. Rear rotor scoring which according to the engineers is normal. Other than that its been great. Tows with no issues. Interior wear is fine. Exterior is fine.
the jeep is a great vehicle and one that will put a smile on your face!!! every car from every maker has issues from time to time. nothing in the jeep line up is anything out of the norm. i have owned several luxury euro rides in the past, suv's as well, and they had just as many issues!!!
I just turned 51k miles and no tranny problems either, but I afford 2nd prime like the plague. Its only goin to give you problems if you abouse the 2nd prime, to hit second prime. speed up to 65 and let it shift into overdrive and then hit the go pedal and let it down shift, that gear it hits is 2nd prime. If your ram has any big power adders then it wont take long to take out the tranny, if you are stock it can still happen. Ask Wade, centraltexhemi, he had quite a few mods on his ram. He knows what I am talkin about. If I am able to get one, would the dealer be able to tell me if the truck is current with regards to the TSBs?
Yes, it's the 4/5spd used on the 4.7L(&5.7L?). It has dual 2nd gears, one normal & one for the downshift. I've never heard they weren't good trannies, but I never looked into it. I put 98k miles on my WJ w/a 4.7L & a 45RFE, & had no problems.
That is 2nd prime that I was talkin about. They are ok trannys at best. It all depends on how you beat on it, you do it wrong and look out. Its not the componets in the tranny that are bad, its the design.
