Today I took my GCSRT8 out and pushed it pretty hard. The Air Conditioning was turn on. I have a 180 deg thermostat. It is 94 deg F outside. After a few launched from a dig I noticed an increase in Temp. So I pushed it a little harder to see what would happen. I know the Thermostat only controls the minimum engine temp, so what could it be? Or, is it normal when pushing it hard on a hot day? When I got home I check under the hood and I had some coolant spray. What is the deal?
it usually runs at the mark between 185 - 215, or a little lower. It stay there nicely unless I start driving the piss out of it.
Which brand 180 thermostat do you have? And looks like your overfull tube is spraying drop a hose clamp on it.
Jeeps All of the SRT-8's will run hot if you push 'em hard enough. The Jeeps especially so. As long as your not in the red zone on the gauge your okay. Of course, cooler is better. That's why we run adiitional oil coolers on all of our Jeeps. We also designed and built our own custom radiator for the Jeep that provides 40% more cooling capacity than the stock one. Because you know: You can't be too cool! BTW: if you push it hard enough the EVIC will say "Check Gauges". Guess how I found that out?
Wow I had the same one on my Jeep and never had that issue, air pocket maybe. Either way that spray needs to be stopped asap!
The motorad has one already, but his does seem to be a tad high on coolant temp. I used to push my JGC SRT8 hard and it never went that high even in 90+ degree weather.
cause they dont and dont know any better but it might be a fan issue or air in the system i live in florida and my temp never goes above 200 with the 180 t-stat and the only reason mine goes up is cause i dont have anything to reprogram my fans
I used the 4128 which is the 180 on my JGC and never had a problem, weird. I use the same 180 on the Charger SRT8 now and have no problem, with the fans running I can keep the coolant temp at 190-195 tops.
