I mentioned earlier that at my last test & tune session a video producer told me he got some good video of my run. It was on his "Internet TV" show last Tuesday, and I captured the part with me in it. My staging was rugged, as this was my first attempt on the transbrake, and I rolled the lights on my first try. Ended up with a 1.267 60' time and a 9.22 quarter mile. Going out this Thursday and hope to improve a little. I've got a video camera mount for in the car. Anyone want an in car video of a low 9 second pass?
it was cool to see that thing run!...i watched the whole show to make sure i didnt miss it haha.... that things gotta be awesome to run haha... and HELLZ YEAH we want in car vids!!!!...and out car...and all over the place vids! haha
Nice! What kind of ride is that thing on the way to the track!:grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:
I'm thinking I need a 30 frame per second HD camera at the starting line so I can analyze the launch. But then another camera in car would be nice just for fun. Especially if the wheels come up and point the camera skyward to start.
Probably would have been a better 60' if you didnt hang out at the tree making a sandwich or whatever took you that long to stage cooling your tires off..lol:thongue2::laugh:
lol Yea, but I would have been worse. Nerves are a bitch. Matt, of course in car video would be great, I want an In the car ride! hehe opcorn:opcorn:
It was a BigMac meal deal. Supersize. LMAO. Didn't you read the post? I rolled the lights trying to get on the transbrake the first time. It's test & tune, so I rolled all the way forward so they wouldn't start the tree on me. Then once they realize what I'm doing, I have to back out of the lights and re-stage. Then, I was paranoid from having rolled the lights the first time, so it took forever for me to inch up to the line to stage correctly. Here's what's really unnerving, that I bet most people don't think about: When you first drag race an SRT-8, you've generally driven it hundreds if not thousands of miles. You know what part throttle and full throttle feel like. You know what the brakes feel like. You know how it reacts when it hooks up nice on the street when you floor it. You know what the steering feels like. You know what it feels like if the rear end kicks out a little. Then you go the the dragstrip and STILL feel a rush of adrenaline as you approach the tree the first time. NOW - the Camaro experience: Total driving experience before staging? Turn on car. Let it idle until warm. Idle to the staging lanes. Idle up to the water box. Now - NEVER having given it full throttle, hit the line lock and attempt a full throttle burn out. Roll out of the burnout, and inch up to the line. At that moment you have never felt the steering. Don't know how the brakes work. Have no understanding of how the car will accelerate. Will it hook? Will it slide? Will it pull on direction or the other? Will it wheelstand? How quick will it go? With all of these questions rushing through your brain. You just try to stage as calmly as you can (yeah, right) and trust that you're prepared for anything, having gone through ever possible situation you can imagine in your mind, even though you realize you can't possibly image what you're about to unleash. So the lights start off, yellow, yellow, yellow, GREEN!!!!!!! Hit it and hold the @#$% on!!!!!!!! So excuuuuuuuuuse me if my staging sucks! LMAO!!!! (I'll be better this week - promise) :stars:
WOW OMFG!!.Geez I was just givin ya some $hit..lol I read the post.If anyone knows how you feel I do..Dont get your pantys in a bunch:grin:
That's why I used lots of smilies. I knew you were givin' me crap. Just teasing back. I know you're one of the guys around here who's actually gone LOTS quicker than any SRT-8 ever has. The toughest part really is the fact that you get ZERO time driving before the first time you have to hit the throttle at the green light. This thursday will be my 7th pass, and probably the first pass I make with the throttle floored before I let off the transbrake.
I hear ya brudda:bigwink: I think your doing great.!! Im jeolous I cant have a 8.XX bitchin ride like you.For now i live the go really fast dream through you..lol
Heh, I thought about some of that stuff. Like how did you know that you could do a full throttle burnout without the tires exploding or something cause you're sitting still? How many passes do you expect from a set of tires? What's it sound like from inside? Anything you expected? would you know if it didn't sound right? Do they run you by yourself? haha, I've got no shame. I'd tell the guy next to me "you should probably let me go first, I've never driven a car like this before".
Looking Good For Not Many Runs With It. The More You Do It The Easier It Becomes, Soon It Will Be Like Second Nature. Keep Up The Good Work.
JMatt- good practice for ya would be watching me run it down the track a bunch of times. Nice vid. Next time with real audio sans show pimping.
