this is a temp change. no records will be recorded. the change was requested by the drivers. this really has nothing to do with stopping distance. it has to do with fires. there has been 7 serious incidents and tons of minor ones in the past 2 years. this was pushed for when eric died and again when force crashed but it took the last crash to get NHRA to pull the trigger. yes it is not the same as a full 1/4 but there is still plenty of danger and excitement at 1000 ft for the fans. there are not many teams out there in top fuel. there even has been 3 events this year without a full field. there is not a long line of people willing to climb in these cars and if the few that do do it want changes i think they should have the chance to at least feel safer. i really believe that they know more about what is going on out there than any fan.
