Sorry AAC. Ok here I go I am going to try very hard to just post the facts about what happened to me with AAC even if it’s hard to do. But here it goes: On June 3, 2008 I made a purchase from Advance Automotive Co. in the amount of $808.35 for a set of professionally modified headlights for my car. The purchase was for a set of brand new OEM headlights that they bought from a dealer and for them to modified them by placing the two circle halo rings and a led turn signal strip. On around June 11, 2008 I received my order. The set of headlights were not brand new they had chips and marks on the outside of the lens from road damage, tinted side markers and the inside of the lens had finger print marks and glue all over. (I did not try them by hooking them up) I called Advance Automotive Co. and they had UPS pick up the headlights and they started making me a new set. On June 19, 2008 I received the 2nd set of headlights and plugged them it. Once turned on I found that on one headlight the halo ring was not working and on the other headlight the halo ring had come apart from where it was glued. Also when the turn signal came on the halos turned off it looked like I had wig wag like you see on a police car. Lastly the halos for the bright lights were really brighter then the larger ring for the regular headlights. I sent an email to the company and they told me the problem was that they had to have been damaged in shipping by UPS (they sent me a picture of the finished headlight before they were shipped) and that I needed to make a claim so that UPS would pay for the repairs to the headlights as far as the halos not being the same brightness and the alternating halo/turn signal flashing the tech that made my headlights. I would have to call and he could guide me as to how to fix those issues. I told Advance Automotive Co that when I got the box they were packed very well and that they could not have been damaged in shipping. But if they were I did not want the product because there was no way that they would take the abuse of being on the car, if they could not take the abuse of shipping. They advised me that the bottom line is I would have to make the claim to UPS which I did. UPS came and picked up the headlights on June 30th they got the package. So now I am waiting to get the credit back on my card. Now I read all the post on the issues people were having with ACC but I felt that they would have dealt with there problems! But no they have not!! They are very friendly people and yes they attempted to deal with the problems. But they have very serious problems with the workers that do the work!! There is no way you can tell me things happen when you are paying over $800 for some headlight!! I advise no one to buy from this company period. To make my point if you look at the Magnum pictures you will see and very nice looking white Magnum! Well he does not use there product any more he had nothing but problems and they use his picture to advertise the halos? Beware of them you have been warned!! Ok I just got a call at 10:30PM from the owner of the company. I have to say that he seems like a stand up guy. And it was a shocker to have him give me a call and I am sure a shocker to him to see what is coming out of his company. The bottom line is and I said this to him, his workers in the back are killing him! With that said I feel that he is going to make some changes with what is going out his door. Maybe in a couple of months I will take another shot but I will keep watch on this because its a mod I really would like to have!!!
Sadly, it is not even the 5th time I've heard of this. I don't think this is a bashing thread at all...just your experience with AAC. I know that other members have had luck with them but it definitely sounds like they have an ongoing quality control problem. I, myself, will never buy their product until these consumer reviews cease entirely even though I love how they make the car look. Seems like BMW has these things down pat.
That sucks Claude. Have you talked with Marcel from Total Lighting Solutions? Marcel is a vendor here.
So did the owner call as a result of your post? Or to follow up on your original complaint. Did the owner offer to just ship you what you ordered? I've been lucky enough to have never received anything really damaged in shipping. What's up with the recipient having to file the claim? Why can't the shipper handle things from their end? Or did you request UPS rather then their preferred shipper?
its like rolling dice, i've never had a problem with them myself. it's hard not to love their products. just kind of sucks that there consistency of quality is questionable.
I'm sorry to hear this bro! With any and every product purchase their is a chance of this happening. It really sucks when it comes to a product for our rides though. Hope things work out for you in the end.
Yes it was a call because of the post. He was willing to redo it again but I just did'nt want to go for a 3rd ride. He said I had to make the claim period. The bottom line is that it is what it is. I felt that I made an honest post. I could have been a hell of alot more nasty but its not my thing. I am the first to say I am a pain in the butt. I want what I pay for period! And I dont want problems with what I paid for!. Overall I was not happy with the outcome after 2 sets! And for the price of the mod there should be NO PROBLEMS!
I would tend to agree. I think most of us can be pains lol...we're picky like that. After all, we're not buying for a Lumina or something lol..
