Oh boy Roy, looks like someone will be turning up the boost on that Roe. Very nice. Those rims are gonna look HOT when mounted on the truck. Keep us up to snuff on the build please.
Already have those rims, but how the hell do you keep the power the the ground.I have a hard time.Im putting down 470hp to the wheels and 525tq to the wheels. My ram loves to drift.lol
Traction is always tough in a FI build...I have a rear end manufactured by DTS in Detroit for the SRT 10's. They used my truck as the prototype for the measurements and was the first install in Mach of '07. It has Strange 35 spline axles, cyroed gears, and Detroit Locker. I changed the gearing from 4:11 to 4:56 and used Wilwood slotted and drilled disks and calipers. The smaller Wilwood set up allows the use of 15 inch wheels with M&H slicks. I also use CalTracs. When I went to this set up, it eliminated the spider gear problem that so many have had, and most importantly when the Detroit locker grabs, it eliminates the fish-tailing that I would get in the first four gears. There are a few downsides...the locker is noisey, and still scares me...sometimes when it engages on trips to the store it clanks so loud it sounds like someone has dropped a safe into the bed of the truck...but that has been a characteristic of the Detroit Locker for 25 years. It also will lock up from time to time in slow turns, and chirp the tires...when you least expect it...kind of like having an automatic with a stall speed of about 3500 rpm! I get some startled glances from people at stop lights from time to time. Another positive is that the DTS Rear End saves almost 125 lbs.
Give Roy a bit. He does not post often. Once he does, I am sure he will answer your questions. And Welcome to the "C".
These wheels were sent to Goodrich in CA. The process is called PermaStar and is guaranteed for five years. My four wheels cost $185 each, and $120 total shipping from CA to IL. The wheels are 22 inch so if yours are smaller, there might be a cost difference. About two weeks turn around...super service...be sure to find chrome center caps from someone to match, or have them PermaStar'd too. Wifey was the person who I bought the extra set of wheels from and she arranged the shipping to the company and coordinated the complete process. Service was excellent...product is killer! http://www.goodrichtechnology.com/ Roy P.S. Anyone need a set of SRT 10 22 inch wheels?
Going fishing...so I will miss the fun...son wanted to spend some time in the Keys for his birthday (I think getting away from his three daughters!). So I will be away while the rebuild is done by a Viper Tech. I'd rather fish than take pictures anyway.
Why did I know you would ask that? No I forgot and I also forgot to get the valve stem cap done! But I do have brand new lugs to put on...
