yes, but not width obvious..... the problem is, going with the widened wheel puts the tire much more negitive in the offset, hence the clearence issues. i really think you will be just as happy with a 295 and less work to make it fit!!!
No...I just saw those and thought they would be the best of both worlds. What I want is a tire that I can take to ANY track and be a daily driver....and here's the clincher.....and not look stupid....i.e. 17 inch drag radials with bicycle tires on the front.
depends on what you plan on running on the front....... lots of tires in the 295 size, but not so many choices if you want a 245 front to match, like i did. that is why i ended up with the 285 nitto 420.....it was the only tire i could find that had a matching 245 for the front!!! i fit a 295 in the back (perelli i think) that i liked better, but it did not have the matching front size i wanted.....
Chris, I think Rick is seriously conflicted...:hypno: or he's dreaming there's some solution that will be optimal for drag racing, road track, around town AND look pretty normal. Chris makes a very good point. You could significantly change the suspension geometry and end up really disappointed with the road handling. You have to at least be able to align it. As for the cutting, you're already half way there after the carpet mod. I'm assuming you have/used one of those Rambo knives. It should go through that sheet metal like butter. :usflag:

nad whom would these be good for???? rick maybe???? hehehehehehe with these rick, you could then run your 315's without issue!!!! (offset would be much more positive than compared to a widened stock wheel)
I think Ralph needs to open his own shop... Would the traction difference be noticeable between a 295 and a 315?!?! You ate sand and slept in 50 degree water for months on end, spent countless months in war zones... and have modded your car DESPITE Tish threatening your life daily... You give up too easily.
I was asked by Milan to repost something that had been posted over at the red forum early last year. Here it is: Hey all: Just finished installing Yokahama 315/35ZR20's on the back and 275/40ZR20's on the front.....In the rear, I had the factory rims widened 1 3/8" to the inside, so that now the rims are 11 1/4" outside lip to outside lip, 10 1/4" inside lip to inside lip....they had to use a 5mm spacer on the rears and also had to re-work some of the inner sheet metal (air hammer), had to do some cutting of the plastic inner fender lining and also had rivet the plastic inner liner to the inner sheet metal....also there is a portion of the inner plastic liner that had to be removed due to the fact there is a factory bulge pressed into the liner that couldn't be flattened....when you are standing at the drivers side rear wheel looking at the wheel, and pretended the wheel was a clock, this occurred approximately at the ":38 to :50 minute" after, location.... As far as the fronts, I did not use any spacers at all...I put the wheel and tire on and I have no clearance issues full lock to full lock on the steering wheel....I also have 5/8" of an inch clearance from the top of the tire tread to the bottom of the upper control arm bolt/nut....It will take me some time to see if I encounter any issues with the tires during regular driving...if so, I guess I can put on the 3mm spacer that I have heard some people talk about, I just couldn't find a concentric one and figured I would track one down if I really need it... I have noticed that the back tires seem to be very slightly "bowed" out, meaning when looking at the car from the back the bottom part of the tire that comes into contact with the pavement is further outboard than the top of the tire...I should be able to get this corrected at the tire shop with a rear alignment......here are the pics... Chris (Legmaker) would be a better opinion, but I dont think it would work with any car that has been lowered. Right now, the outside edge of the tire is just under the lip of the edge of the quarter panel. It MIGHT fit just inside if I lowered the car....the problem comes in if you have people sit in the back or bottom out the rear of the car. As you look at how the fender is shaped it tapers in as you go higher on the panel, so as the wheel/tire travels up, the distance on the inside moves farther and farther in, make sense? I had Weldcraft add the extra width to the rim on the side outboard of the hub, not to the inside. I could have had them split the difference. In that case, I think it would have been more money as they would have had to make two cuts and two welds, assuming they would even try that, you would have to call. That would have made me take out some additional material and make more room to the inside. So much time has gone by that I dont remember if that would have been feasible...
