I know that this is not a hot topic on this forum but I thought I would share my story with you. I have a 05 Dodge ram Rumble bee that I love very much and drive every day to school (Ohio state, im 20 years old). I got a roll pan from Sir. Michaels last March (19th birthday present). It was painted by a 5 star ford Mercury dealer body shop. They did a lot of work to get it ready for paint including sealing it, undercoating the back, priming it and painting it. Well less than 1 year later it is ruined from rust! I ground off the paint off the top edge to see how bad it was and it is terrible. The pan is junk. Well Kevan and I cleaned up the rust spots and rattle caned it with rustolium. This was a 1000% temporary stop until I could afford a new one to do it right. Well today I called Sir. Michael and after some persuasive bitching they are sending me one for half price. I feel good about this since he never asked for pictures he just took my word that it was prepped and painted the correct way (which it was). Well here are some pix. Oh and i will be trying a different body shop this time.

    Damn Keith.

I really did not know that the roll pans came in pure metal. I would have thought fiberglass or aluminum.

Often times the Dealership bodyshops use substandard materials and go through the motions of doing a great job. Yes, even 5 star shops.

Your best bet is to goto a high reputable shop, other than a dealer, and have them do the new work.

You will probably pay a little more, but the outcome will be a long happy life of your new part and the paint.

    Sorry for your troubles man.

That's great news about the new roll pan!
For such a simple body panel, they sure are pricey.

    To add to Keith's post:
    - The weld that connects the main panel to the mounting bracket was FUBAR from the start. That's where the corrosion started...well before primer and paint touched it.

    - The license plate box was just tack welded in a few places. The body shop had to fill in the gaps with bondo/filler.

    WARNING!!!
PRODUCTS FROM SIR MICHAELS DO NOT COME WITH ANY COATING/PRIMER!
    THEY ARE BARE METAL!

Sir Michaels is one of the few left that still use metal which most body shops prefer and my body shop will only touch and is what I had on my 05 and PLEASE do not put any line of fire lights on it that is so played out.

The previous owner of my truck installed a 60" LOF. It's one of the few things I left on there.
    Why?
    100% pure safety.
The driver behind you can NOT miss those things when they light up; they are right in their face.

Jack knife doors are played out.
    Safety isn't.

Sure! As soon as I can find tail lights with an orange/amber turn signal section!

You know you're kickin' ass when you stump both Google and Ebay.

Wade, That’s the one that Kevan wants but he wants the stock taillight turn signals to match that color.
