6 cylinders... the CVT was pretty cool, I left PHX airport and saw an Astom Martin DB9 in the left lane, before I knew it I was at 100mph with little effort... didn't even realize it. I'd imagine that the 4 cylinder would have been gentler on the gas mileage. --Russ
:hmm: im not too much of a fan of the CVT trans its too weird when it doesnt shift. but since im leaving tomarrow for travel again i think i'll try this one or the avenger
the avenger was nice, I like the indigo lighting on the dash and the gas mileage is OK... but its not so great in the acceleration department. my next travel assignment is getting me a ride in a back of a new DTS which at this point I'd probably prefer to driving, especially in Boston... but the following week I'm renting some sort of POS Kia or Hyundai in Sint Maarten/Saint-Martin I can't wait! --Russ PS. I rented a Toyota Yaris in Aruba and not even a mile outside of the airport I had to turn around because the damn thing nearly shook itself appart... the people weren't helpful at all at the place and gave me two options either keep it and STFU or get a full refund... then then insisted I can't drive stick, lol go figure! (thats why I rented the car.... to learn, hahaha)
well anything we rent wont be great in the accel department since we're use to our SRTs and Top Gear did a show on the Prius. the guy said "a ball could roll in the street and a kid could run after it, go through puberity, and retrieve it before the car gets to it." i wonder what they would have said about the Yaris :rofl:

Cons: Underpowered engine, weird but not necessarily uncomfortable front seats, small back seat. No room for Luggage I was able to rip apart the Cold air attatchment and got alittle more accelleration. and got the most noticable accelleration when i took out a round 2.5in black entention inside the airbox. id probally rent it again. but i wont suggest it to someone whos taller then 5ft 10in

Good accelleration, better than the Sebring, handled great and did a nice 180, the autostick is pretty responsive not bad for a car from Hyundai Cons. nothing really bad to say about it. like any car it could use a bit more power but it was just the base model I would rent it again if there wasnt anything else to rent. and i would suggest it.

No pics and no long experience with either but I recently both had a 2007 Buick Lucerne CXL and a 2008 Chevy Cobalt LT as rental cars. Lucerne - Pros: uhm.... dunno. Stereo was halfway decent and played MP3 CDs. Cons: slow with the 3800 V6 (197 hp), NOT as smooth as I thought from all the hype in their commercials - "quiet technology"...yeah ok... Squeeky and bouncy seats, squeeky doors. Turning radius is pathetic. I looked like an idiot miscalculating just getting into my driveway... it turns like a dump truck would. Only 24000 miles and felt like it had 124000 miles. Not impressed at all. And this is the flagship!? Damn GM - I'm not impressed. Cobalt - Pros: again liked the stereo. Handling is pretty decent and worlds better than the Buick. Turning radius amazing compared to the Buick of course. The 2.2L isn't a bad engine for a car this size - gets up to speed ok and I had no problems of any sort in traffic. I had the LT and it had power windows and mirrows which was nice. Cons: 11900 miles and it shook like crazy at 30-40 mph. wtf? No cruise control which is pretty annoying. Weird steering wheel... it's "fat" but since it's plastic with little bumps on it, it feels strange to hold onto. Interior space is OK I guess but I'm 6'4" and with three other adults in the car and a baby seat, it's just not working. My back was killing me after 2x30 minute drives. It won't work for a family of four I don't think. Over all: Buick - hated it so much I had to change to a small Cobalt and loved just getting rid of it. Will never ever go near again - I think the Lacrosse is a better car. My co-worker has one. Maybe the V8 version is better, I don't know. Cobalt - maybe if I was somewhere without wife and kid(s) for a few days it could work ok. Anywhere with company, no way. Would I recommend to others? Buick - never in a million years. Cobalt - fine for a small car if you're by yourself and don't need to drive too far at a time. Nothing fancy but gets the job done.
Took the wife to Phoenix for her BDay 2 weeks ago & we rented a Shelby Mustang GT-H Convertible from Hertz for 3 days. Pro's: Price - they had 8 on the floor, none were moving probably b/c of gas prices. Got a 40% discount. Power - 325hp/330tq - more than enough for a rental car. Exhaust note was great, very linear acceleration up to 130mph, then it just crept. Power top was nice. Cons: the entire car displayed very poor workmanship, showing frayed edges of convertible cloth and crooked fitting panels. Traction Control switch was disabled...no burnouts. Stereo was crap, pure crap. No aux hookup, no satellite, sound quality was not good whatsoever - but I may be spoiled by my SRT's as well. Trunk & rear seat space was lacking. I own a 2000 Mustang & it has a considerably larger trunk & rear seat, not saying it's better though, just bigger. Car was dirty. It needed a wash & the windows were filthy. I would not rent it again, once was enough. Considering the quality, it should have had a bigger discount. Maybe get a C6 next time. I would recommend to other to try at least once. It was nice having a rental with some big power.
