Some time ago, I read the pros and cons of both and was wondering what you guys find works best. I understand your opinion may differ on the type of dragracing you enjoy or are doing, but overall, for say test and tune nights?

as a DR n00b...i have always been told to stage shallow so that you can get a "running start" when you break the line...the deep staging, as it was explained to me is more for drag cars and dragsters that can get a really serious jump off the line...

S'what I heard too as of late. Deep...6 more inches you don't have to go. Guess it would play a much larger role when racing for slips lol..

but the time doesnt start until you break the line right?....if your racing a car its deep...if your racing the clock its shallow....is that a decent way of going about it? lol

When I went to drag racing school they explained to just barely turn that second light( staged light) and stop immediately.

That would be a shallow(furthest from the photo eye, start line).

This gave approximately an extra 6 inches for the total run.

Once third light starts hit the throttle as hard and fast as you can.

This method avoids red lights, which we all hate.

They claimed that extra momentum helps in the ET and higher MPH.

It's funny, after turning 9's in the quarter mile haven't been back because I think it rearranged my eye sockets J/K.

Always thought I wanted a 10 sec street car but after that mind bending acceleration I said hell no. Don't get me wrong it was the most exhilerating experience of all time, but not for the faint of heart and no passenger could deal with that much power.

That also with the old light system(year and half ago) and they might be changing to LED's and it might make a difference for reaction times.

    Answer: Shallow
