Word on the street is: The next Diablo CROM revision would allow manipulation of the TCM including shift points and torque management. Is it 2 or more weeks out? And lastly, am I understanding correctly that in order to make the crom work with a CMR tune, backup the CMR tune, return the vehicle to stock, use the DS Downloader to update the crom and then upload the CMR tune back into the vehicle? Is there anything I'm missing here Mike?
It does not differ if the tune is locked or not. What you must understand is that the tune Steve has done for you is yours and yours only. It is only locked from prying eyes to see. You CAN still modify the parameters on the tune Steve has done for you that the handheld will allow you to do (for example add more fuel, adjust timing etc although you wouldn't want to do this as Steve has already done it for you). What you can't do (which the end user does not have access to anyway) is see the programming in the tune. First of all you need the CMR softwware to do this and only dealers/tuners have access to this software. And secondly if you have CMR tuning software, the lock prevents that tuner seeing what programming Steve has done for your individual tune. So in a nut shell when the new file comes out do everything the same way you have in the past. You should always have a copy of your latest tune saved on your PC anyway in case something happens to your handheld. Load the new CROM file, plug into your car to see if it needs to be updated, load the CMR tune back into your Predator then load into the car. Hope that helps! BREAKDOWN I understand the RDP tune is locked in some way. *yes it is see reasoning above When new crom is loaded it wipes out all existing tunes in handheld. *Yes it does. Ensure tune is backed up to your computer before updating. Worst case scenario is that Steve will have to send you your file again. He keeps a copy of all for this very reason. Will I still be able to the load RDP tune from my computer to predator and then to my car? *Yes you certainly will. It does not matter that it is locked, the function here is still identical to that of it being unlocked.
Hmm...is this info coming from the thread on CherokeeSRT8? I only ask since I have not heard anything about TCM being done at this point.... Thanks Mike
so mike, when we will see some tcm support for the lx's????? inquiring minds REALLY want to know!! lol
This was quoted from the Cherokeesrt8 site " I talked to Mike@Diablo yesterday and he said "we just got full access to the Dodge Hemi pcm's so AFTER that we will be able to implement TCM changes to the Jeeps soon thereafter" He didn't give an ETA but he said SOON
Yeah, not too far off guys, we'll be doing full TCM on the truck release, and that will set us up for the LX/WK TCM stuff, so its closer than ever... Thanks Mike
This came from something I read somewhere where someone posted that they had done this and the predator would not load the RDP tune that had been exported to the PC. Maybe the original can always be loaded from the PC but if you then export it from the handheld, update the handheld, and then try to import the previously exported file it won't do it? I suppose it's more likely the guy was just confused and had screwed something else up. I only ran across that one and haven't seen others or further comment.
The biggest problem with this is if you are not running the most up to date CROM file on your handheld. For example, RDP (as do most tuners) always run the most current up to date version Diablo has to date. Tuners wil base everything they do on the latest update as should everyone that owns a Predator. Now if your version is r18 and the CMR tune is based off 9r04 it will conflict and not take. If for whatever reason it does not work still, RDP offer (almost) 24/7 support. Hope that helps
Mike@DiabloSport should be able to answer this.... Mike, Can tunes be locked this way? When you upload the "Custom Tune" (A CRM tune IS saved as a "Custom Tune"....right?) from the Predator to the pc do you get everything done by the CRM software? And of course, you can load the "Original Backup Tune" to the PCM and then re-download the "Custom Tune" done with the CRM software using the Predator only.....right?
