Odd that it still moves at all. Means that SOMETHING is still hooked up in there. Maybe only one side? Limp mode, in this case, would come from something not matching up with drive shaft rotations, left axle/wheel rotations, right axle/wheel rotations. So the left or right side could be completely trashed but as long as you don't spin the other wheel everything would look ok as far as rotations go.
Bud, you don't just pop the covers off on the LX's. It's an ordeal. And since you were able to move under its own power and you don't have the quaif. It's not a halfshaft. Unless it broke in a manner that allows it to catch and lock for a split second, which I kinda doubt. But it does sound like the diff let go. bummer man, good luck,
Decided to take a spin by the 5-star today to see if anyone could bring me an update on the Mag... Check it out - I pulled into the front lot and there she sat in the middle of where it shouldn't have been dropped by the flatbed driver, driver's side window down all night, with my dash mounted Sirius and Garmin GPS units still inside!!! They left my effing car open to the elements and thieves but it didn't rain and nobody stole anything!!! I was still livid. OK onto "customer service" with Dodge...ttyl
Jesus Christ this kinda stuff really get's my goat, WTF is wrong with them?!?! And they're 5 STAR too?!?! Geez Joe, maybe time to find another dealer, isn't there any good ones out there, good God almighty?!?!
Joe, one thought. Is it possible that the Service guys moved your car before you arrived this morning? It just does not make any sense that it would be parked somewhere where the Tow Truck drive could not unload it. In other words, someone has driven or pushed it to its current location which leads me to believe that it probably was not let unsecure (windows down) over night? Just a thought.
this is why i jumped all over this thread first!!! hehehehe man, got excited again.......:worthy: chinese food after an evening with someone from the eq.....mmmm.....might explain the "rear end explosion"...... man, this kind of stuff just drives me nuts!!!!! at least close the damn window!!!!! idiots!!! anyways, just glad to hear all is still in one piece and not wet, but more importantly i just hope things are repaired quickly and it is not too serious!
God I hope so, I shudder to think of the stupidity of leaving someone's 40 THOUSAND DOLLAR SRT8 open all night!! I mean come on, it only takes a teeny tiny bit of common sense to think you might want to roll up the windows and lock it ... doesn't it??
Why is it so hard to remove the rear diff plate did not mean to offend any LX owners just making a suggestion
Sadly, no, Ron. I was there with the tow driver when he lowered her - she hadn't moved from where originally plunked. Pretty freaking amazing how fortunate I was as it seems that nobody (dishonest) visited the used lot last night! Wow. I called a DC Canada Customer Service Manager who quite emphatically states that unless I purchased a service contract with DC when I got the car (which I didn't) that they won't provide a loaner. Great, OK...so the best I can hop for is that the dealership will somehow expidite the remedial work but they've had it for over 24 hours now where it's sitting in the back with <ahem> the front spoiler resting on top of the curb (I'm guilty of putting some scratches in it but they're not allowed!!!) Hey I feel a bit better now...thanks for reading.
EXACTLY....if i mess up my car...thats MY problem...when someone else messes it up....OH ITS ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Stevo, you're closer than anyone to Ottawa, How much would you charge to drive up here then throw on some cowboy boots and assless chaps and head into the service counter to stir things up on my behalf?
Cool! I'll call the "Y" and have them set you guys up in the "special" wing...LMAO, did you just change your avatar?
So the window was down after being unloaded from the flatbed? Was that the tow truck driver's fault? Was it a dealership tow truck and driver? and I would have walked the service manager back to where the car is now, pointed to the spoiler on the curb and said "please take care of that for me while you fix the other stuff. and I want a loaner/rental too".
Private towing contractor so I think when I go in with the keys it becomes the responsibility of the dealership, right?
I would think so. but... Towing company takes responsibility when they pick it up. If you went with it, you take responsibility when the towing company drops it off and turns it over to you again. Dealer takes responsibility when you turn the keys over to them and they sign you in. Now if you left the window down when you turned the key over to the dealer I'm not so sure they would be responsible until they actually did something with the car.
