Hey all, just wanted to say I'm still around, give a shout out to all and those in the city of vision. I had a hard drive crash on my computer and have spent the last 9 days running Data recovery, and it is running enough to check mail and answer PMs etc. My Son decided to plug the Vacuum cleaner in with my computer and do the cleaning, well he cycled the Vacuum many times and crashed my computer that many times, SO the hard drive is a mess, figures, my back up prog some how was deactivated and I didn't have a recent back up. Hope to see all the locals at the Duke City Mopar Fest....if you don't know about it look for my post. Be back on more when the drive is recovered or I slam a new drive in and say to hell with the data , got so much there, hate to do that. Doc
lol....that's a good one, at least he does a better job than his sister. Still doing data recovery, man I miss my puter....oh man...have to listen to FM radio...... boy life's rough...lol Doc
Next week will mark the 5th month I've been working on recovering drives. I got my 80GB back (100%). Now it's working on the 250GB. Software: Data Recovery II. $99....and worth every penny! Power company sends us crappy electricity and we get "brown-outs" all the time. They drop the voltage *just enough* to where the UPS doesn't kick in. This process has been unfun. TIP FOR EVERYONE: If you do get a UPS, get one with a Power Conditioner and Voltage Regulator!
Wow thanks for the tip, was thinking about getting a UPS, so that is good to know. I've got about 70% back of a 320 GB, just takes forever, I'm putting in a new drive anyway, but need the data from the old drive. I'm using SpinRite 6.0, been good so far. That was kind of a good thing when we had smaller drives, less data to recover. Doc
TripLite seems to be one of the best UPS's on the market. They are a bit pricey, but damn do they work. They even come with a program and USB cable called Watch Dog. It helps maintain the PC from eating up HHD's. We use them with all of our PC's for the carwash industry...
