I have Cannon Power Shot A720 IS 8.0 and I can't get it to focus close ups either. I assumed I was doing something wrong. Is there a trick?
The one on the left.....it has that black lower lip that holds or retains the o-ring. That has split on mine. It maybe the fuels or additives? I dont know. I am going to go with the style on the right, which is more factory like.
You should have a "macro" setting? That's for closeups and it will be a fixed focus at a certain distance from the object. Like 18" or 2' or something like that. should be in the manual.
Here's a pic for ya: http://www.cameras.co.uk/cameraimages/canon-powershot-a720-is-back.jpg In the pic, follow the "Focusing" red line to the 'flower' icon next to the 'MF' (Manual Focus) icon on the control dial on the back of the camera. There's your Macro. On your Powershot, the minimum macro focusing distance is 1cm. Not bad.
I dont want to spook you. We dont have alot of choices now that I have done some research. Just make sure the end is tight and no sign of cracks. I just peeled one away and I guess it can be repaired but I just wonder, what if I had never pulled it out?
