I wanted to post some pics off the car for you all. I havent even finished installing yet First impressions... I really thought they were going to be more like a very thick fel pro gasket material. To me they fell very similar to the other spacers just thinner...as to how much thinner here is a pic I am going to install as stanko said to with no gaskets but I dont know if they have the material to seal 100%...I could be 100% wrong but thats just my initial feelings. Why this concerns me is im adding boost and any vacuum leak will be noticeable. As you can see just like the other spacers they leave room for you to port match which I will be doing when I get her back from Vortech. I have done this many times growing up on older aluminum manifolds and once so far on a 6.1. Its not hard and a little bit can be had...3-5hp maybe stock and a bit more boosted...earth shattering not at all but I love it Here are a few more pics
PM Sent John. I have them, they work, but it's only been since May 19th and we didn't use gaskets either. Time will tell.
I did when I first got the old ones but dont remember the numbers...to the hand its the same feel...Ill see if I can find my IR temp gauge. Ok found my IR temp gauge will do a pass tomorrow and get cold and after pass temps...
3,000 miles and no leaks. BTW.... we have found that you dont want to open the port or gasket match, especially with thick phenolics. It creates a dog leg but also it creates a slow spot right before the air enters the head. That is the reason we are Extrude Honing and not just port matching. We saw no CFM gain by port matching. Nice write up......
Interesting. Right now the intake and head port sizes are smaller then the spacers. How much turbulence are you finding when opening up the manifold to match the spacers? I know with Adams heads the spacers matched the new head ports really well. I was planning on opening up the manifold to match the spacers and then have it extrude honed for the rest. How far are you opening the ports with the extrude hone? Are you using one of their heavier grits?
this mornings findings...please remember I have all my under hood insulation out so this is why there is a diff in the front and back temps. Bone cold(sat overnight) | After 3 hard passes car on | Car off 3 mins | Car off 5 mins Intake Front 80.5 | 85 | 92.5 | 96 Rear 80.5 | 87.5 | 95 | 99 water N/A | 179 | 176 | 176 I took a heat measurement of the heads under the spacers at the 3 min and 5 min marks and they read 153. At the same time the external temp of the radiator hose was 156. We all know that the spacers work great while driving but when sitting the heal will soak through. So far no leaks and very similar performance if not better. John
I agree. I did a less rigorous test between some WOT blasts and when the car sits, the heat does soak through after some time.
