Anyone have a rear tail light wiring diagram for a 2006 Grand Cherokee SRT8? I am trying to wire in LED's for my rear brake and turn signals. thanks for any help, because right now I can't find any.
I have an 007 manual. I know the lights are different so it may not help. There are 3 wiring diagrams for each left and right rear tail. if you want these, pm me an email. Ill create some PDfs and send. Rob
There are plug and play LED bulbs like the ones I have no wiring needed and they work and last just fine
Tex, spill the beans which bulbs do you have? Link please. Dont make me body slam you!!! the ones I have light up with the lights on but they do not get brighter when the brake is pressed. The turns don't work at all.
Oh man I mis-read SORRY I just have the LED reverse bulb in but let me check with the guy that sold me that one and see if he has anything for the brake/turn signal bulb
I knew it!!! You are going to get slammed!!! Just kidding! Let me know if you find anything out, or if you have a diagram for the plug for the rear lights. Since we just have that plug and then each light is plugged into that bar I am not sure which wires to tap into for the resistors. Thanks for any help
I guess that other stuff i sent didnt help. What about this: Or look at the tablke of contents and let me know if another view would be better.
Robpp, the diagrams look like they will help, I am not sure how much until I get home and look at my wires. Thanks for those. also the connector diagram should help too. You have been more than helpful!! I just hope I can figure all this out and not confuse myself.
I'm going to try these and see if they work http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/V-LE...ryZ33713QQihZ018QQitemZ280231381621QQtcZphoto
That's funny those are the exact same ones I got. I even order them off Ebay, they should work with resistors but the jury is still out.
Think this would work http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/50W-...ryZ33713QQihZ015QQitemZ250251448536QQtcZphoto
For blinkers thats what you def need. But be careful, they get like 300 degrees hot. They need to be mounted in a safe and secure place.
Yeah I agree those are the same thing I got. I was either going to secure them "free air" or mount them against the metal of the fender behind the housing of the tail light. I should have these installed by Thursday, I think I have figured out which wires are what thanks to robpp's connector diagram. With the 06 and 07's being different I am going to have to give it a try first. Thursday is the first chance I will have, I have class tomorrow night so I will not be able to try until then.
just my experience......have had all three 20 light towers from autolumination.com in my 06 for over two years now. Used the flashing "brakers" for stop bulbs. (of course had to use the load equalizers to prevent "fast flash" syndrome). Have not had any problems or bulb burn outs. Lot of room under housing, so I just dropped resistors and let them hang freely. Occasionally will pop housings out to clean, and I have no issues regarding melting or heat. Was originally going to mount them somewhere, but figured I'd try "dangling" method first. Not necessarily reccommending this, just telling you my experience.
so does the load resistor allow for the bulb to get brighter when braking and could you use some heat wrap or thermal tape around them?
I dont know the technically aspect of it, but a regular non led bulb has resistance across it when lit, leds bulbs do not have that resistance. So you need resistors to simulate the load a regular bulb has. That is why some get the hyper flashing without the resistors, no resistance from the bulbs. I am sure someone else can explain better.
I thought about some sort of wrap as well, something like the sleeves you put on spark plug wires to keep them from burning.
