So I'm on my way home from Orlando, and I get into town and it starts POURING... we go from 65 to 20. Then I hear a few pieces of hail so I immediately pull over into the emergency lane and throw on the flashers and stop. I was the first one to pull over. Then all of a sudden it sounds like 10 machine guns going off at once, 1000 people hitting my truck with hammers. It sounded like my windshield and sunroof were going to shatter. IT GOES ON FOR 10 MINUTES!! Hard for like 6 or 7. No one going anywhere, nothing to do. Marble size to about half the size of golf balls. My passenger and I had to yell to each other to hear what the other was saying. There are about 65 or so dents/dings in the hood, and the roof..... well, that's just an extension of the hood. All but one chrome window trim piece has a ding, both front quarter panals have dings. The doors have dings as well as the top part of othe door by the roof, and one big NASTY one right where the roof meets the front windshield. The only part that doesn't have a ding is the gas tank door!! One guy wrecked his Harley Electra Glide into the guard rail trying to stop in time. It was leaning up against the guard rail one the high side with the kickstand down. He jumped into someone's Titan to wait it out. The pictures really don't do it justice. You just have to see it in person to really understand my pain.

    Paintless Hail Repair

Paintless Hail Repair is an alternative repair process to traditional paint and body repair processes. The process was initially developed to address the repair of minor dents without repainting the damaged panel. The uses of the Paintless Hail Repair process have expanded to include hail damage and small collision damage repair. The Paintless Hail Repair process has capability limitations associated with the size and severity of the damage. Feasibility criteria for the Paintless Hail Repair process have been established and are utilized during the estimation process to determine the appropriate repair process. The benefits of the Paintless Hail Repair process provide ample incentive for it’s use as a primary repair alternative.

Scott or Steve can try to restore your vehicle to pre-loss conditions without the use of traditional repair methods. They are barely trained to remove hail damage using customized tools and techniques, usually within one or two years. This system results in lengthy repair times, excessive body work, use of replacement parts and refinishing of your vehicle.

Paintless Hail Repair virtually eliminates Diminishment of Value claims, typically associated with major body and paint repair. Customer satisfaction ratings are distinctly lower than with complete repainting.

Repair technicians are able to place a tool in the correct location(ummmmmmm.....) under each dent. Reflection of dual fluorescent light beams on the topside of the damaged panel pinpoints the location for the dent tool.

Each dent is individually repaired by gently massaging the damaged sheet metal upward until it is restored to its original pre-loss condition. They give the dents erections.

Well, the roof is the mail issue I have concerns about. The hood can be replaced, the quarter panals can fixed by the "Dent Wizard". Chrome window trim canbe replaced. The roof has to be popped from the inside. The headliner has to be removed and HOPEFULLY they can get to all the spots. The worst one is right where the front windshield meets the roof and the paint has cracked there. Still waiting for State Farm to meet with me for my estimate. My Jeep dealer isn't on their "list" of prefered people...... Fact-o-Bake is though of ALL places. I wouldn't let them paint my kids bike! Or I can take it to a Chevy dealer in town. WTF? A chevy dealer being a preferred place to take my Jeep? I think not. Hopefully they'll call me in the am. I can't imagine how many people they've had to deal with since yesterdays storm. The worst thing is there was another one today my neighbor got caught in. What is going on here in Jacksonville?!?!?!

Dude, that sucks sooooo bad! I'd be pulling my hair out and knowing a lot of insurances won't cover it due to it being "Acts of God" I'd really be pissed. Sure hope you can get your baby back to her old self.

The weather is getting all screwy here, too, and I wondered if hail was on its way.

    UGH...I HATE hail.

But, at least I pay gobs of cash for insurance. No way do I live with all those dents forever.

Ok, so I think it was the truck guys that were telling me a while ago they're likely to use dry ice to fix most of those?

Wow everyone.... thanks for all the replies. I'm glad that I'm not the only to feel my pain. My wife.... who is the greatest chick in the world... said it's only a vechicle. It can be fixed. She just doesn't understand the pain, and you all do. I'm gonna tear up... J/K. I just ordered headers, Predator with B&G tune, Eibach springs, and I'm going to do heads/cam by August. Now I gotta deal with this crap on top of trying to get this truck into my buddies shop to get it dyno's before and after and all the stuff installed. I just hope that State Farm does me right. The truck has 32K on it and it's mint still. No orange peel at all in the truck. We'll see what happens......

It seems the way State Farm is working now is they will do an estimate and tell you they will cut a check for that amount. If you want you can get estimates yourself. If your estimates are higher then you submit those and they'll either agree to those or negotiate. I've always found their estimates (few times I've needed to get them) on stuff to be as good as or better than your standard repair shop. For example, I would expect it to cover the estimate from the dealer's paint and body shop.

Don't know much about paint but when you get an estimate or go to get it fixed I'd tell them that you're concerned about spider web cracking in the paint a few months after the repair and see what they say.

Thanks Quick... I like that suggustion as well as everyone else's. I never would have thought to say that. I appreciate it. We'll see if they call me today. I'm sure they're even busier now that there was another hail storm YESTERDAY as well. Why is God punishing Jacksonville? Could be a bad Jaguar football season as well........ lol.
