Cam, I don't think thats true. I had a small problem when Steve did my email tune 2 months ago (wrong Crom rev, my fault) and I sent it to Johan at Diablo and he was able to get into the tune and modify it.

Now with that said, I don't know if he has changed and is now locking files but I doubt it.

Well I heard through the grapevine that not to long ago, a certain shop had gotten one of his special tunes for a certain application and then turned around and started selling it. So Steve got pissed and started locking his tunes. If this is true, I don't blame Steve in the least for locking them. I'd do the same thing.

    Thnx!. :friends:

So here is my problem. In the event we need to make further adjustments, well we're hooked on Steve. That in it's self is not a huge deal. But here is where I do have a problem.

What happens if he dies.

Sorry Steve, not to bust your balls or nothing. But this very same question has been asked of myself during the course of critical projects that I designed and constructed. Not that a car tune is in the same league as a multi million dollar project. But still it would be a major inconvenience. :erm:

I beleive the only other person that knows what Steve is doing in these tunes is Johan at Diablo. He and Steve work together and share alot of info. Cam, I believe if an issue came up and steve was not around, Johan could help you.

I am sure Steve will chime in on this issue.

By the way, give us a hint of who was reselling Steves tunes?

I'm sure hope so on the first part. That'd be cool.

    Now on this one ^^^^.

NO!. Sorry brother it's hearsay, Steve should be the only person to discuss it if it's true.

John is correct Cam. I think Mike the owner of DiabloSport also knows what's going in to them as they were on the phone and IMing while he was doing my tune. I can tell you that he has "seen" his work (long long hours to figure this part out) in another tune...and from the sound of it...he was convinced that it wasn't a coincidence. As it stands, it looks like he's tightened the reigns (as I would if it was me), but it's still worth every penny.

Cam old buddy, anything can be sucked out of the PCM within seconds, it would only be a problem using the Diablo stuff.
Any other system would overwrite it/change it.
Remember once the "tune" is flashed in your PCM you own it, not the tuner or Diablo!

This was one of the reasons the handheld was delayed in 2007 (actually by what I said on another board) by a couple months.
Diablo was worried (actually B&G brought it up) about "Tune Stealing".
In my book (and according to the law) it's all fair no matter who tunes it once it's in the PCM the owner of the vehicle owns it not the tuner .

So I myself would be pissed if I paid the going tuning rate (what is it 5 Bills?)and the tune was "hooked". It isn't like the tuner tuned it for free and in return made an agreenment to hook the tune but if you pay for it you should have the ability to have it unlocked.
Now with that being said it isn't hard to unlock it if someone knows what they're doing and still steal the tune.

One of the reasons I am using Harman's facility is because I want to convince him to take on the SRT8's. I almost had him convinced last year and then I went a different direction and did not pursue it any further. He has a real nice facility and I think he would make a great addition to our community.

    DynoSteveTuning Session

    The dates are as follows.

The dyno will be available for the entire week of June 17th through June 20th.

Harmanmotive is open from 9:00am to 7:00pm

Put the date and time you want next to your name.

    Pricing: $475 for tune
    Additional Tunes: $150.00(100 octane/nitrous,etc)

Choice of N.A. pump gas, race fuel and nitrous tunes for all combinations. Contact me via PM to schedule any forced induction tuning or any special tuning desired for your combination such as 392/426 combinations.

Make sure if you want any modifications made between now and then you have them done to optimize your tuning visit. Harmanmotive may be able to squeeze you in for some installs a day or so prior to tuning.

Make sure you arrive with you car fueled in the state that you want it tuned. Harman carries 100 octane VP which sells at 8.50 per gallon. A Street Tune for driveability is highly recommended with use of pump gas. Make sure if you want an optional 100+ octane tune you run your tank under a 1/4 tank or less when you arrive. When the fuel light comes on typically you still have 3 gallons.

As stated above DynoSteve is charging $475 for a street performed tune, ON THE STREET DATA LOGGING, which in California is pretty hard to get away with. Harmanmotive is renting out his dyno facility for $200 per car and that covers 2 full hours and should be ample time. Should it run over a bit we will be ok.

Please PM me to schedule and make sure you list the vehicle and the modifications along with any other information as far as how it may be running.

Steve will tune all cars that make it in for tuning. Harman will keep the shop open 9:00am to 7:00pm. All transactions for DynoSteve should be in cash and any form of payment to Harmanmotive is acceptable.

    $475 for tune
    $200 for dyno time

    $675 total....is this correct?

Ouch...considering I paid GSM $175 for my last Predator Dyno tune which gave me about 25 RWHP and 20 RWTQ.
Might be different if my engine was internally modified.
I don't think I will get that much more for the money with just a CAI and cat back.
Does he want a B&G Stage II flashed PCM in trade?
