2 months back I had the full Kicker upgrade installed at Tutelclick in Irvine. Due to them being inept at getting the install job correct, I had to take the Jeep to Star Chrysler (which I had liked up until this visit) to do some troubleshooting. It turns out that they damaged 2 bezels on the dash and one bezel around the gear shift removing the stereo. I didn't discover the damage until the day after I got the Jeep back. I definitely wasn't a happy camper, but when I called the service advisor he was apologetic and told me to bring her in. Brought in the Jeep after the weekend and spoke with the service manager, he also apologized and the parts were ordered. It took me about 6 weeks to finally make it back to the dealership this past Saturday morning. I wait there for two hours to find out that they ordered incorrect bezels for the dash and only installed the one around the gear shift. I could have done that one in ten minutes myself.....WTF? It's a three day weekend and I think to myself, it'll all workout. No big deal right? Well I go get some coffee this mornig and when I walk back to the Jeep I see that there is a crater in the door handle where paint used to be. Upon further investigation, I also notice that a piece of the passenger armrest is hanging on by threads (completely ruined). Service department is gone due to the Memorial Day weekend. I'm hoping they are cooperative with these issues as the bezels and I'm hoping I don't accidentally strangle someone. My blood is freakin boiling. I just emailed Jeep and Chrysler customer service departments. Who else can I complain to? I am LIVID!

    Regional Chrysler/Jeep service rep?

I probably wouldn't have dropped the boom right away and at least let the service manager look at it. But then again, maybe your service advisor should have looked it over after the job. I think I would have taken it in first, told the service manager that you're so pissed you'd rather not talk, pointed at the damage and see what he had to say. They just might have made it right by you.

Quick, I know they are going to take care of me. If they don't, let's just say it'll be one big mistake on their part. The service advisor should have seen it like you said as well. The door I didn't notice cuz the Jeep is filthy from the rains the last couple of days and when I left the dealership yesterday it was overcast and dark. The armrest you cannot even see unless you open the door. You cannot see it simply by looking over when driving. I plan on detailing the Jeep in the morning and there might just be more issues I don't even know about yet.

For starters, installing the Kicker upgrade system does not require access to or removal of the radio, and does not require the removal of the shift bezel or center stack bezel. Considering this and the armrest damage, whoever was doing the install had no idea what they were doing. I'd take some clear photos of the damage before you return to the dealership. And I would make sure that the door panel is replaced, not glued back on as I suspect they may attempt. Make sure they order you a brand new door handle as well. Then find yet another new dealer.

Those are both right about the same height. I'd look for the guy wearing a motocycle chain as a belt.

What I would be ticked off about more than anything is the fact that they did not fess up to the damage. Whoever caused it certainly had to know that it happened, especially the bezels and door panel. If it were me I'd go to the service dept. and ask to talk to the "tech" that worked on the vehicle, and then look him straight in the eye and ask him why the damage was not reported.

If I owned the dealership that employee would be history - not for causing the damage, sh*t happens, but for not fessing up. A new door panel is going to cost the dealer $300, the door handle $40, and maybe another $50-100 for the bezels.

You'd better also closely check every other area involved in the Kicker installation - all of the cargo area trim pieces, the front left kick panel, the Kicker wiring under the hood to the power box, and the rear door panels.

seriously, belt, belt buckle, something clipped on belt. That's my guess and I'm sticking to it. (I used to have one of those Harley primary chain belts many years ago. Tore the chit out of everything I got near).

He's right Drew obviously whoever did it was lazy and did not care for what he was doing nor take pride in his/her work. Check the entire door seal area for watch/ring scratches and your tailgate area. I had this happen to my Hemi truck but luckily I take ALOT of pictures and was doing a before and after phot session for HTC on my side mirror install and the installer scratched up my door seals bad and would not fess up until I showed the owner pictures from just the night before showing the exact area perfect. It sucks this happened and could have been avoided if people took pride in their work. When I got the Jeeps window tinted and inspected the entire Jeep for scratches and did not find one or any water spots on the door I went back to the install area, shook the window tinters hand and gave him a $20.00 for taking care of my baby, GUARANTEE you that will sit in his mind on his next install

Thanks for the kind words and good advice. I wrote the service manager a nice long email with pics this morning. I even told him in the email that I have complained about his dealership and service department. I could care less if this makes it harder to get them to take care of me. Ef them! After several hours went by and no phone call, I called the dealership. Of course he was on vacation, today of all days. Anyways, I spoke with the next dude in line that said it was Gus's call and he'd be back tomorrow. He apologized and said the interior damage was no problem. He had the effin nerve to tell me I should have inspected the outside better before leaving. I told him I shouldn't even have to effin worry about it. We'll see what noise Mr. Manager brings tomorrow. I'm also going to call Chrsyler tomorrow as all I've gotten is there stupid acknowledgment of my complaint email.

The service manager called me today and acted kinda clueless as to what happened. I asked him if he got my email with the pics and he said yes? Anyways, I went through everything with him over the phone and he said that he would have everything taken care of. We'll see what happens.

When you take it in and he says no problem we'll take care of it, tell him you're a bit miffed over the whole thing and it would be a nice gesture if he threw in the lasted NAV disc update.

They just came out with this year's update. But I don't know that there is a hack for it. You don't need the update unless your neighborhood was missing from the last one.
