Hey y'all I just got back from Singapore and my wifes EBC red stuff pads and stainless brake lines.

Well I went out to look at the rotors and there is no gouging. but there is one hell of a lip at the outside and inside of the rotor face.

Is there anything special I need to do to get these turned, being that they are slotted.

Has anyone else seen these be unturnable after 17 thousand miles of kind lady driving.

    :please:

Jay, I think your wife needs to fess up and tell you that she's been going to the track and scrubbing those brakes down hard!
Seriously though, does anyone smell defect here? I'd be moaning to a 5-star...

I've been told by the Chrysler Tech's that work at HHP that You CAN have the rotors turned at the Dealer. They might not make a practice of it, but they supposedly can do it. I'll need pads in the next few months and I'm going to get the slotted rotors turned at the dealer.

Is this a tough or technical process?

my understanding is that the slotted rotors "can" be turned, but it is highly recommended that you do not. something about the overall thickness of the rotor material is not what it needs to be to be safely turned. again, just what my dealer tech tells me, and i do trust the guy.......

Yes, slotted rotors are turnable - but most places don't like to do it. The issue is their lathe and bit. If the lathe operator advances the disc too fast, the bit will catch in the groove. The usually chips the disc and breaks the bit.

    From the Service Manual:
    LIMITS/SPECIFICATIONS - SRT8 BRAKES
    FRONTS
    Rotor Thickness: 31.9-32.1mm (1.256-1.264")
    Minimum Rotor Thickness: 30mm (1.181")
    Rotor Thickness Variation: .040mm (.0016")
Rotor Runout: .030mm (.0012") - measured on vehicle

    REARS
    Rotor Thickness: 27.9-28.10mm (1.098-1.106")
    Minimum Rotor Thickness: 26.mm (1.024")
    Rotor Thickness Variation: .040mm (.0016")
Rotor Runout: .030mm (.0012") - measured on vehicle

Rick, 1fastsedan covered all the bases here. I've personnally never had slotted rotors turned, but was told it can happen. As long as the shop or dealer is willing to turn it on their lathe then their shouldn't be any issues with turning the slotted rotors. I'm going to get mine done relatively soon so when I do I let ya know how it went.
