Yep...to make the whole Quiafe/halfshaft thing work I'll need to find a killer deal somewhere or buy them used!
Bud Get ahold of Lou1355 He has a quaiffe installed in a srt carrier already.I think he wants 1k for it.
Hey Rick just my 2c,i had a 5.9 dakota r/t and did all the internals. The thing was a TQ monster after the heads, cam, long tube headers, high performance cats, catback, timing chain the hole nine yards.I to wanted to add a supercharger. All I can say is these mopers are torque monsters. But some of these guys are right,it all depends on what you want out of your srt.For me i will drive my jeep almost everyday with my S/C.I own a landscaping business so,if you cant drive it everyday do what you can afford. If you want to be Mr.fast get out of my way, then take a chance and install forced induction. These 6.1l are bullet proof.
Thanks Scott...but, I'm at least 4 months from being able to pull the trigger on anything. I'm just trying to plan and spend my money the right way.
bud man I would say find a used supercharger and get some forged internals like Eric did on his maggy
O.K. here's what I'm thinking after everyones help. H/C/I Package Quaife LSD 1000 HP Half Shafts 3.55 Gears CMR Tuning I want a cam that makes usable HP and torque across the power band. "Peak" HP does nothing for me! What sort/brand of cam will give me that nice fat curve?
The half shafts because I've read that they tend to break with a Quaife....and I want a Quaife. And I want a roots style blower down the road. The gears because their pretty cheap for what you get, and I don't need a car that will go 175 mph road racing or tooling around on the street. I really want a really fun daily driver that I can take to a road course on occasion.
You're doing it right Rick. Take your time, do some research and get exactly what you want. Prices will come down after a while and especially on some used items.
The half shafts can/will break without the Quaife but you have to seriously launch the car with some added power and good tires. Remember they all broke immediately on launch (let go within the first few feet). Ok, ok. I was just thinking that with street tires and without the gears and if maybe you just soft pedal it a bit off the line you'd be fine with stock half shafts. Without the gears and half shafts you could buy a whole lot of pedders or other suspension items and have a really serious road track car. But it appears that the thrill of launching and scooting around town is a higher priority than that. I can understand that (would be my choice) and you can add on the other stuff later.
I want to be able to scoot as well. I can already get around the turns pretty good. I also LOVE throwing the car around and burning up perfectly good tread. I'm sure I'll do a bump steer kit or full bush kit later when I can swallow the dollar amount. I will definitely do the chassis connectors. Who knows what I'll do. Maybe I'll do a Procharger or Vortech one with all the suspension stuff and call it a day! lol I get a pretty good bonus every year and want to put a small portion of it towards mods....I'm just trying to figure out this years mods based on my "five year plan". Hehe
Rick, Drew's right. First and foremost, you love the handling... and you sure as shit like barking the tires and drifting... this is all well documented. I say, that your car handles incredible now. Add some power and the quaife. Then beef up the suspension as needed. A little here, a little there approach until you find the balance you desire. If you have $X to spend, it doesn't mean you have to dump it all at once. Add this, and reassess. Add that, then reassess again. Then, when you get sick of your WWII KW V2's, you can sell them to me.
Well...I just got the "are you EVER gonna think of the family?" speech! So....I'll keep my word to my wife and keep the cost under 6K.
Steve...I LIKE the way you think! LOL Fuck em!!! I'm doing it, and getting a RDP Blower, half-shafts, Quaife, 392, H/C/I, full Pedders....you ARE right! Thanks for bringing me back down to reality!!!
No shit?!?! I'm averaging about twice a month on my current lecture circuit! LMAO!!! *and I've only spent, so far on mods... umm... about... $1300. So, lets figure this out: $1300 on mods in 1.25 years (15 months) = $86.67 per month 2 "think about the family" lectures per week for 15 months (2 x 60 weeks) = 120 lectures 120 "think about the family" lectures / $86.67 per month on average for mods = $1.38 per "think about the family" lecture When you consider the cost effectiveness of this ordeal that we sustain, you come out on top every time... however, a deeper and more thorough risk analysis reveals the following: @ $1.38 per "think about the family" lecture, it's actually costing you multiple times that amount in stress and aggravation... not including health factors such as high blood pressure, excessive drinking and emotional withdrawal. So, we gotta ask ourselves... is it really worth it?!?! Yep!
You obviously do not know the SHIT I go through living with this man!lease: Dirty, Stinky, Farmer Blows, Cutting toe nails with a kitchen knife, picks nose, smacks food, gives daughter 5 cookies before dinner..... Really! Both of your balls have already been dissected. Where in the hell did you get another pair buddy? You better check yourself! Better yet, you better check your Johnson and make sure it's there in the morning, if you're gonna keep this up.:shifty:
