So I went to the Thursday night test & tune in Indianapolis tonight. Had horrible problems all the way around. One big issue was I couldn't figure out my 60' strategy. Unfortunately, I can't blame track prep. Tommy Johnson Jr. was there with his 330 mph NHRA Top Fuel Funny car practicing 60' launches all day long. They prepped both lanes for him because they didn't know which lane he wanted. When he was done, it was my turn. LMAO. You know you can't blame track prep when they've prepped it for a 4 second car just before you got there. Anyway, Hoosier Tires told me these tires don't need a lot of heat, and I should run them with as high a PSI as possible. First run - very little burnout. 22 psi. Roasted the tires like I was at an ice skating rink. Something like 2.2 seconds to 60'. Ummmm...... that's not working. Hot lap. Do a long smokey burnout, but leave tires at 22 psi. 1.99 60'. Also had to let off because I lost so much traction I should have just pulled over. Ummmm....... gee. That's not it. So I go back, cool off a bit, drop tires pressure to 15.5 psi, change my AFCO's to very soft on the rebound, as I think I had too much damping in them. Softened up the compression a little more. 1.69 60' time. Gee....ya think? I know 1.69 isn't super good, but PSI, shocks, and burnout technique took me from a holy crap bad 2.2 down to 1.69 seconds. Not bad really. Of course, my nitrous is still giving me fits. I appear to be down about 100 HP. Perhaps I need a nano system? I only trapped at about 120 in 11.611 seconds. Not bad in the grand scheme of things, but still waaaaay off my best runs. Time's running out before Columbus........
nice info matty! not like anything is adjustable on my car but maybe i could play with my tire pressure and stuff
Matt, If you were thinking about coming to Cincy...today may not end up being so good with a better looking chance for rain, but Saturday morning at Tri-State could end up being really good. Eric
Eric: Tri-State website says that there is no Test & Tune on Saturday (5/24). Do you kow if the event that was scheduled has been cancelled? I would like to drive down to run a little bit if Tri-Sate is open on Saturday. Sam
Sam, There is an event actually. We were going to go early(8-9 am) and get our 2-3 runs and maybe stay for the competition, but we're honestly thinking this will be the best air for us over the weekend and want to capitalize on the good density altitudes. I believe it's $25 for that one day. Let us know if you are coming, it would be nice to meet you. UI"ll pm you my cell phone number. Eric
bwahahahahahahahahaha Matt is SLOW again... bwahahahahahahahahaha hmmm Maybe Hoosier was talking about little heat and low PSI on basically STOCK cars? Good thing it only took you a few runs to go back to the norm....
Hmmmm......... Ron's BEST time: 11.82 Matt's HORRIBLE time: 11.61 Slow? You make the call!! Bwaaaaaaa hahahahahahahahahahah!!!
I'll be at Tri-State tomorrow morning. Still want to try Edgewater tonight. Tri-State Gates open at 9am. All cars have to get in "Tech Line" (They may look at your car or they might not) Time runs at 10pm 2 time runs $35
