Failed inspection today Summary of Readiness Monitors: Misfire (if availiable) - Ready Catalyst - Not Ready Secondary Air System - Not Available O2 Sensor Heater - Ready Fuel System (if available) - Ready Heated Catalyst - Not Availiable A/C System - Not Available EGR System - Not Available Comprehensive Component (If available) - Ready Evaporative System - Ready 02 Sensor - Not Ready Other - Not Available So if I'm reading the inspection statement right, it fails because of the "not ready" sections...Catalyst and O2 Sensor. So Mike is there anything that diablo can do to make this go away? :help:
Do you have your rear 02's disabled? If so, you need to turn them back on and get your sensors into ready status. Diablo cannot do anythng for you, Ive asked them.
I'm not sure if they are disabled or not. They are typically disabled through a B&G tune? I have kooks with cats and borla.
Are you running a B&G PCM or are you running the Predator tune. Sounds like either way the rear 02's are Disabled and need to be re-enabled. If your running the Predator then just enable them and drive around awhile to make sure they go into a ready state. One problem is that in the mean time the Cat inefficiency code or the like comes on and lights a CEL...if so you're screwed again. You might have to get a CMR tune done by someone who knows how to change the rear 02 tables so you don't have to Disable the rear 02's to stop the cat codes from coming on. Josh at HHP did my custom CMR tune...I don't throw anymore cat codes and my rear 02's are ENABLED.
Strange. FlyBy gives a sound question... Are you using the Predator on top of the B&G? Is this a can tune or a CMR tune? Of CMR, ask your tuner to check the O2 settings.
Does the inspection also include a sniffer in the tail pipe? Did they just scan the OBDII and fail you before checking emissions? If they did will the cats pass that?
So if you get past the OBDII checks do they then do the sniffer? I suppose it doesn't matter since you either pass or you don't. Be sure to let us know.
Just so everyone understands. Just because you have a CMR tune and dont get a CEL with long tubes, that does not mean you will pass a state inspection. Dave at B&G turns off the CEL for rear 02 codes in his tunes or atleast does something to them that does not allow the 02 sensors to get into ready status. Even though you didnt turn them off, doesnt mean they arent turned off in the same manner. Problem is, you will not pass a state inspection that uses the OBDII checks as part of it. I currently had my CMR reworked so I would throw codes so I know whats going on and can pass inspection with some strategic driving etc... Make sense?
In NY, they dont use a sniffer when they do OBDII cars. Its all about getting your car into ready status and getting inspected prior to throwing codes. If you throw a code and reset it, you have to start all over. Takes numerous drive cycles to get ready to test.
How often do you guys have to get an inspection? I don't have my first until 2011 but every 2 years after that. We have a sniffer test here where they key in the vin and a range of parameters come up for the vehicle type, conduct the test and the car will pass if it is within the acceptable range....the results are printed off and your vehicle reg can be renewed.
You lucky bast^h^h^h guys. Here in CA (I think it was 3.5 years since the last time I got an inspection) they use a sniffer and visual inspection. Part of the visual is look for CEL. If your CEL is on you fail immediately. Now they have these "test only" stations. So I think it's every 2 years you can go to a regular one and every 3rd time or something you go to a "test only" station. Maybe the "test only" stations are different but I'm betting they use a sniffer and do additional testing (like OBDII scan?). Every state will be different. Looks like toothmonger is in NC, but what I was wondering about is, do you have any chance of passing a sniffer with the hi-flows?
Ya, Im sure its different everywhere. When he posted about the ready status stuff, I knew his state uses pretty much the same stuff NY does.
Maybe Dave at B&G turns off the rear 02's in his tunes and maybe other CMR tuners are doing the same thing, but what Josh did with my CMR is different. He changed the table variables for the rear 02's so they wouldn't throw the cat codes and the rear 02 is still enabled...meaning its functioning and in a ready status. If you want further info talk with Josh at HHP.
You need to get the 02 sensors turned back on, then get at least 5 key cycles to get back to ready status. Then you need to drive as little as possible and get to the insepction building ASAP before the cat codes come back.
Thanks Andy! Do I need to drive it at all? Or can I just turn the 02's back on in the parking lot, do the 5 cycles and then be good to go?
