This is the reason why we at DCR build the complete oil system package, The OE pumps still fail at will from the "noise" generated by good whp with no pre-ignition and or spark knock/ detonation. The most common failures of the OE pumps is due to the restricted oil pick up tube which we replace with the DCR Pick Up Tube. The other is to small of a oil filter. The pump works overtime creating excessive heat and expansion of the gear rotors (which then lock up in the housing) from the lack of proper oil supply from the small OE pick up tube. The oil is then being forced through a small OE filter and the restricted oil cooler adapter leading to the same failures. This is why we came out with the DCR Big Filter Kit. Its a total package and the oiling system must not be over looked. Just upgrading the oiling system alone eliminates the common wear of the crank journals, bearings, and cylinder bore wear. If you are stock...you can stay stock. The more mods you have then consider the oiling system first and be done with it. It really is a good investment as compared to repairing wear items and failures. You can keep adding horsepower while adding dependability Our DCR Complete Oil System Includes, 1.DCR Upgraded Oil Pump(with our custom coated gears) 2.DCR Windage Tray kit(with our crank scraper and baffle) 3.DCR Pick Up Tube 4.DCR Big Filter Kit This kit sells for $575.00 + shipping. The oil system should be one of your first major mods. If you have any questions or would like to place orders please give us a call at the DCR Speed Shop @ 1-276-956-2082 Thanks, Nubs @ DCR
I remember running a bigger oil filter on my 01 Neon for cooling purposes. The thread is the exact same. Haven't done it on the SRT-4, not sure if its possible due to the way the filter is so close to the oil pan.
Just to give everyone a heads up we have the DCR Oil System on group buy for $475.00 + shipping. We are doing 10 kits at this price. Thanks, Nubs @ DCR
