Skye- What do you do that you travel so much ? I travel too, put 75,000 miles in 9 months last year, Montana is harder to drive than Texas
^ holy crap dude i do the same mileage as skye and i feel i live in the gc - what do YOUDO ? you're not truckin' in the jeep are ya ?
I work for American Maintenance Engineering Services as a Senior Field Analyst/Engineer. It's a really long story, they send me to nuclear power plants all around the nation. There are "safety related" systems that ensure the plant doesn't melt down. My team and I go to plants and test the equipment that control waterflow through the reactor and the equipment in the safety back up systems. The lives of everyone in a 50mi radius of the plants are in my hands.
I just called my dealer to schedule a TC Fluid change. The service writer said to me "Nah the fluid is all the same, nothing special." I then faxed him the wk jeeps service page and called the parts department. They didn't have any NV146 in stock!! So how could they possibly use the correct fluid if the dealer didn't have any.... So I ordered a container of NV146, and I printed out the information to take to the mechanic.
Not a shock I sat there for 2 hours thinking they were working on mine for them to come in to the waiting room to tell me they did not have any in stock, funny I schedule the appt a week earlier you'd think they would have checked before hand
I ordered it from the dealers Parts department. After calling them, telling them what I needed, waiting for a good 5 minutes on hold for the guy to check the stock room.....he then tells me he dosn't have any. He was confused when I was explaining to him that there are 3 different types of TC fluid. So when it comes in, my Dad and I are going to change both of our TC's on our lift in our shop. Screw the dealerships. I'll take pics of the bottle when it comes in, for everyone to see. I know I would like to see what the labels say, etc. Just for reference.
Skye I did the same ordered it form the dealership plus 3 extra bottles, some dealerships will not do that as they come in a box and will only order a full box when needed
My dealer called, they want $31.67 per Pint. This stuff is rediculous.....how can this fluid cost this much?
Thats the right price but I knew it before hand and why is it so expensive, ITS ONLY MADE FOR MOPAR thats right you will never, ever see this behind the counter at Pep Boys, etc...
I got two bottles from my local dealership in Stephenville. They ordered it and had it delivered the same day..It's too bad THEY don't have a SRT cert. Mechanic on staff. They are a pretty good dealer but can't work on my srt. When I get it back from Daniel, I'm going to change my TC fluid ASAP.
I have a drive-on lift at my shop. I'll just change it there, along with my oil and diff fluids. wade, I saw the pics of my jeep in the other thread..I'm a little wooozy. It's going to be sweet though.
