Steve, that sounds awesome! What are you charging? Or does it go on a mod basis?!?! If so, I have the diablo w/91 oct perf. tune, 180 degree t-stat, Zoomers catbacks, magnaflow hiflow cats, mopar cai.
hey mate, unless it's something pretty hairy your normally looking at $275 and turnaround is with the day but normally with in a few hours of me speaking with the client they will be loading a program
Basic run down of whats involved in getting one of our custom tunes. Ok firstly you will need a predator or we can supply you one 1. we need to make sure you are on the current 9r04 crom file etc 2. if your not we then need to return your car to standard and then update the crom file which is just downloaded from the diablo website, also if you don;t have the ds downloader software you will also need to download this a the same time. 3. once your on the current crom file we then need to have you vehicle with say the 93 cai or 91 cai program or the last tune that you had done to the vehicle loaded into the vehicle. 4. I then will need you to download unsing the ds loader the original backup file and the last file sent to the predator and then you will email these across to me. 5. whats also a really good idea is if you have yahoo messanger to add me to your list [email protected] and this way i can talk you through the whole process simply even for the guys who have never done it before i'll take the time to make sure your comfortable with whats happening and how things are done. 6. once i have these files and have asked you about the mods to your car and what driving style your planning on doing with the car, i will write a program to suit this. 7. I then will email the program back to you to load into your vehicle 8. once loaded i'll get you to hook up the data logger on the predator unit or the data viewer software if your going to use a laptop and take the vehicle for a drive, this will require normal driving as well as wide open throttle driving. 9 once completed i get you to email me over the data readings from the logger and i'll look over it, if theres anymore adjustments required will will follow the last few staps again until the job is perfect for you ,and theres a smile on your face. It's all very simple and i'll talk you through it the whole way, and remember the more information you give me the better the tune will be. Hope this helps everyone and sorry i'm not much of a story teller, and excuse any spelling mistakes please. thanks Steve
Steve you should do very well with your email tunes and the customer service you are providing. I know I had a little trouble with all the "computer" aspects of doing everything that was needed for uploading my CMR tune. Nothing beats a human being talking you through the process.
I have said this over on lxforums, I have had 4 different CMR tuners (including dyno) and none came even close to Steves email tune.:worthy: I thought the car had a 75 shot of nitrous, car was night and day faster. And, NOBODY has better customer service than Steve. It will be the best $275 you ever spent on your car!:drugs: John
we have just uploaded to our website the email tune data form now to my email tunes alot easier to arrange check it oout at www.rdpmotorsport.com
Haha, I looked at that. I guess it will help those who know what the labels are... I went Name: ok Date: ok EEC something or other: err... don't know FMU: err Fuel pump: umm, works? Don't let that dissuade you. Just give Steve a call or email (i'm pretty much convinced he works 24x7...). I did this quite some time ago and couldn't be happier. For those of us who don't know much about tuning here's what I'd recommend for the smoothest experience. Make a list of what you have for mods that might effect a tune. Make a list of what you like or don't like about the way the car runs now. Make a list of what you'd like it to run/drive like. Don't hesitate to think outside of the box here. Doesn't have to be in technical terms. You can use the "touchy feely" type of descriptions. Steve will do the translation into tech specs. Make a list of any tech questions and concerns you might have. Steve knows them all and will explain what's valid, what's myth and WHY at whatever level you understand. The reason for all the lists is that you're probably going to get more information, explanation and discussion on each and every thing than you could have possibly imagined. It's likely to go "Ohhh, I didn't realize/know that, so that means ... and I can .. or then maybe I want this instead .." and by then you will have forgotten the other six items you wanted to mention. Steve's going to ask you what you have and what you want. You send him your Original backup and last tune written to the car. Steve sends you back your CMR tune (mine came back the same afternoon, holy crap). You try it out and log what he tells you or what you want and send that back to him so he can verify everythings ok. If anythings not to your liking or Steve's liking you do another go 'round. If you've tweaked your tune or have a current cmr tune you might send that to Steve first. (He's very familiar with all the canned tunes) I had spent a lot of time fooling with my Predator 91CAIoct tune adjusting a/f, spark, etc. (mainly for fun and just because I could fool with it) but it wasn't as smooth as I'd like (Predator doesn't give you that granularity), shifts didn't feel quite like I wanted and seemed to be inconsistent at times (the feel) and I couldn't get rid of that really annoying "bog" at launch. I wanted to stay on the "conservative" side of the line. I wanted all the power I could get and still maybe go the 100K or more expected stock. (understood, no problem). I guess with a proper tune that's not an issue. I wanted firmer, more consistent shifts but I didn't want to have to wear a kidney belt. Kinda like using a rubber mallet instead of a steel one. I wanted it to shift like that while driving around town too and not just at WOT. (understood, not a problem. Explanation on why, what's good and what's not and why) At launch, if I did any kind of brake stall at all, it would just sort of fall over and bog immediately on release and never really take off until just under 3K. Rolling into it from an idle was much better but still kind of flat. (haha, I get this "Just a minute... yea, I see that in your tune, it does this, and this, and at this rpm doesn't it?" ding! I'm speechless for an instant. "and I see a couple of other spots where I can help that too. Here's why... I can improve that and it should be better and at this rpm"). amazing. (Throttle response. You've got some lag there? I can help that a good bit too.) Oh, yea. I had forgotten about. Don't forget to make your list... He's going to fix it anyway but you'll feel better having mentioned it. I get my tune back and he nailed it. Everything. Sent some logs back and we were done. Steve keeps a file for every tune he does. Tune, notes, logs, correspondence, everything. You won't be forgotten. I thought it was worth the price of admission just to talk to the guy for 20 or 30 minutes. Note: (hope you're not sensitive about this Steve) Steve is from Australia if you didn't already know that. If you're going to do the phone thing you might want to watch a couple episodes of Crocodile Dundee to warm up your Star Trek universal translator . If you have a problem with that you might want to switch to the Yahoo Messenger option. (although living in Cleveland is going to rub that right out in short order).
Totally spot on description Dave! I agree that Steve was a very interesting person to talk to the first couple times I met him! ....now, not so much lol....Just kidding Mate! hehehe Anyone who is still contemplating the benefits of an RDP CMR tune, I wouldn't waste anymore time wondering. Awesome.
lmao Is the Croc eating the dog or the Vegemite Sandwich? lol Steve certainly knows what he is doing when it comes to tuning ANY vehicle.
