I was thinking about selling my AFE SRI intake and getting a full CAI intake, but i'm not wanting to spend 240$ or so. I am looking more to either break even on the whole thing (selling AFE to buy full CAI) or have a little money left over.

I know alot of people get AEMs, K&Ns, etc for the name, thicker/powdercoated piping, and better filters, but right now im just wondering if anyone has and 'ebay' one that fits, or knows of any good/bad stories about the 'ebay' CAIs.

If they do fit, i will be getting new couplers and a better filter, i just mainly want it for the piping.

for reference, here are a couple links i have been looking at.

if i find out good news on 'ebay' CAIs, ill take 100$ flat from you since your local, and ill even drop it off and help ya install it.

IMO, an intake is an intake is an intake. On my 383 '95 Camaro, I ran an eBay intake and that car was in the low 12s, high 11s on slicks. It was a decent made $35 intake that rested in the fender-well right by the front bumper. Had perfect airflow and gave great results for the cost.

My only concern, like yours, would be fitment. I have a JMB FWI for my big turbo and the fitment is absolutely perfect - by far the best intake fitment I've ever used.

Some coercing may be in order for this eBay intake; but with the right couplers, you should have no problems getting it to fit well, and most importantly, benefit your motor.

    I would triple-check fitment.

We purchased a CAI for my brother's Buick.
Tried to install it. Wasn't even CLOSE.

yeah, intake is an intake in my eyes, just worried about the fitment..

true CAI is the only way to go if you don't have to worry about sucking up water.

i had a true CAI on my tib for about 2 years in detroit, and never had any water issues.

short rams are ok, but your getting warmer air. with a turbo its not much of a difference, but with N/A setups theres a big difference in power with WAI and CAI.

i just wanna be able to have something a little nicer in the engine bay then this oem looking SRI.

and another thing about the ebay CAIs, the guys in the tiburon community buy them alot and the fitment is good, i just wanted to try checking here first before i sell my SRI.

That BOMZ one you listed is a SRI, they call it a Cold air setup though.,,,,

But yeah, like you said, it really doesn't matter since we have turbo'd cars.

You said you are planning on replacing the couplers and the filter... Good, cause they suck. How much will that run yah? $60+ On top of a $60 or so shipped on a Ebay CAI. So $120 or so?

actually, now that i look at it closer. it looks like the first link is the only REAL CAI.

so that would be 60$ shipped. i have a filter that should work, need to double check the width of the 'filter' coupler.

and for the couplers.. prob about 40$ or so, so prob about 100-110$ total in the end.

still would be half of the price of any of the name brand CAIs and function better and look better than the AFE.

if i sold my AFE for 100$, i would def. be willing to pay 10-20$ out of pocket for the upgrade.

I never heard of an AFE intake.

But yeah dude, do whatever flaots your boat!

Here is the order of the intakes I have had on my car lol:

    1. Stock airbox with drop in filter
    2. Used K&N Typhoon CAI
    3. New AEM SRI
    4. Back to my stock airbox with drop in filter. (Currently)
    5. Used Injen SRI. (Waiting for this in the mail.)
