B&G Question

    I have the B&G nitrous tune and lately I noticed the shifts has been pretty smooth..So tonight I reset the TCM adaptive with the predator...Took it for a spin and leaving it into D the shifts were no different but when I would run it manualy and let it shift out by itself the firm shifts was there...I guess I never paid much attention to it before but is that how everyones shifts also...My buddy has an 08 like mine with only the 91CAI tune and he rode in mine and said the shifts didnt seem as firm as his (in D ) and I know when I first installed the B&G there was a noticable difference..Should I maybe run the 91CAI tune for a short bit then change back or stock tune?

    My car shifts harder in autostick then in Drive when I'm gettin' on it.

    No problem man... and thanks for the compliment.

    Now that I think about it some more I think its got more to do with being able to shift at a certain RPM more than just being an autostick/Drive thing. My car shifts pretty hard around 5000rpms and above in autostick. In Drive its hard to get the car to shift at any certain rpm range without letting off the gas some and then it shifts softer IMO. If I nail the gas in Drive it'll want to go to the redline, but if I let off to let the tranny shift sooner it doesn't shift as hard...make any sense.

    Maybe in autostick the PCM reacts quicker and does not allow for an RPM dip when shifting therefore a firmer shift is felt????

    You need to grease the roller muffler bearing :whistle:

    I hate to say it but you dont think the N20 has put a hurting on your trans do you ?

    I have only sprayed 3 bottles and I am sure I am not even getting a 100hp due to my rich fuel jet(still trying to get it dialed in)...Here about a 2 weeks ago I pulled 1degree of timming then the next day I just put the B&G tune back to original settings and I was not sure that it took the first time so I reinstalled it right away to make sure...Since then a few times when starting it has turned over but acted like there was no fuel so I would turn key off and it would start the 2nd time...I am wondering if maybe I corrupted the file somehow...I have had the predator mess up on other vehicles in the past doing the same thing....As I said my buddy has an 08 with only predator with the 91CAI tune and he said the shift was not as firm as his and I have only noticed this since I reprogramed it...So I am going to try the 93CAI tune for a few hours and reinstall the B&G tune to my predator and see if that makes a difference...I would really doubt I am having tranny issues due to just a smooth shift almost like factory when in D ..autostick does have the nice B&G shift...Thanks

    I honestly wouldnt worry about the shifts....that to me is an overrated thing, that is not that important to truly worry about. How old is your tune?

    Ok...Today I loaded the 91CAI tune and a noticable SOTP difference from shifts and performance..SO I drova around for maybe 10 miles...Went home erased the Custom tune and reloaded it from the pc...and everything was back to when I originally installed the B&G tune...I then took 4% of fuel out of 4800 and up and 3% of 4000-4800(not sure of the exact rpm range but the middle one lol)...My A/F seems to be mid 12's now and the Jeep seems to be running pretty strong..Thanks

    Perhaps it was adaptive learning ? I really wish that you could disable that feature. Everytime I go on a road trip my Jeep shifts like my grand pappys Caddy, it sucks.

    How are you using the b&GII with thr preditor? Did Dave write you a CMR? I have a B&G II pcm with 02 tune but was told It would be ruined or due damage if I loaded a preditor tune on top of it, so since the pred its been a $700 doorstop.

    I have a CMR from Dave and I have it saved in PC and to my MSN e-mail so I will always have it...I am sure there is a way to use it ...Nice car..Thanks

    howard - if your b&g can be read by the pred, then you can save the base b&g file in the pred, and load whatever file you want out of the pred onto you pcm. dave did a custom tune for me that i run with the pcm i got from him two years ago!!! no problems at all!!! i have all of my tunes saved to my computer as well!!!

    btw - the manifold goes out monday morning!!! :grin:
