The coilover development progress on the AFCO Racing coilovers for the LX platform has just hit warp speed!

Last Thursday AFCO Racing overnighted the first pair of front coilovers to me. I installed them in my garage at home by a little after midnight Friday night.

I went racing on Saturday, and spent an hour on the phone with AFCO on Sunday.

Today, I drove the 185 milies to AFCO, and we removed the prototypes, made a number of changes based on initial results, and installed Prototypes version 2. We did a brief test drive, checked some fitment issues, and agreed on some final revisions for Prototype version 3.

I then drove home 185 miles. About 15 miles into the trip home I realized I wasn't noticing every stupid little crack in the road. All the bumps we've all grown accustomed to. So I started paying attention, because I KNOW the highway wasn't that smooth this morning. Compared to stock, I was practically gliding over the pavement. The ride on the road was unbelievable. (Anyone who wants a test drive - come see me. Really - you won't believe it!).

So now I'm off to the racetrack again on Thursday to see how the new front end reacts at the track.

There's also a lot of other good news:

Availability is expected sooner than I had hoped (more details coming shortly).
Pricing, while still not firmed up, is predicted to be lower than I had thought (again - more details in the coming days).

Finally - there will be some additional product announcements expected in the next couple of weeks. I think the new announcements will get a LOT of people's attention!!

    Stay tuned!

Hey J...I know these coilovers are geared towards drag racing, is there a way to adapt them for Real...cough...I mean Road Racing? Mainly the rears since they are ture coilovers, just wondering because now there will be a full set?

As far as I know they are fully adjustable (both compression and rebound) so depending on what valving they used yes you should be able to tune them for whatever you want. Also they can be re-valved to anybodies liking, as they appear to be a rebuildable design. JMATT will have to inform us on the spring combination used

Absolutely. The rears can be setup for roadracing as they are. The fronts we will probably create two different part numbers for two different valving packages on the front shocks.

We can make a shock go from great daily driver to all out drag shock, but there's just no way to go from full dragracing soft to firm enough for road racing use.

Even if we don't have an actual part number, I can have them custom valve a front pair for your needs.

Spring rate selection would be different too, of course. But those are ordered based on each person's personal needs anyway.

See my post below - I was typing it as you were typing this apparently.

The valving for a pure drag shock on the front is so extreme that we'd use a different valve package for the guys who want to make left and right turns.

Everything else you said is spot on. In fact, the prototypes I had on the car on Saturday were rebuilt yesterday. I think we've decided on the valve package for drag racing, yet still having a great ride on the street. We'll just use different valving for roadracing for the fronts.

The backs are good enough either way for roadcourse, street, or dragstrip.

Yes shocks are pretty advanced now days. Between a shock dyno and a little testing time, at the track, will teach a person a lot. Even the best shock guys are learing new things daily...

Speaking of shock dyno and testing time.....

Here's the shock dyno we did yesterday for my fronts, and the shock dyno that was done for my rears earlier:

LOL - speaking of ebay. What's a set of SRT-8 takeoffs going for? I now have two complete sets. A set I bought to give to AFCO for the development stage (which they gave back to me yesterday) and the now complete set off my own car.
