Hey all I just got a full CMR tune and am now experiencing some sort of throttle sticking deal. It seems like the car now has its own built in cruise control and even when I lift off the gas all together fuel is still being supplied. It is also evident in that when I am driving on the interstate and throw the car in N, instead of dropping to idle RPMs the motor will sometimes actually Rev up slightly and hold that. I am also having the issue that when driving normally in automatic the car wants to rev much higher than before sometimes running up to almost 2500rpms before shifting. Anyone know what to make of this?? She is also surging at initial startup. When I first fire up the motor she revvs a few times befor settling down to the appropriate idle speed.
Could be a vacuum leak...... I'm suffering this problem now with my skittle, and it's a bad TPS. The TPS is a known bad part for us, but I'm not sure about the 8's.
Mine was doing the same thing before CMR and after. Replacing the throttle body took care of the issue. We didn't really figure out what was causing it it. Not positive it will fix yours, worked on mine.
^^Oh Snap!!^^ I may have been right..Armchair diagnosis FTW!!!! TPS=Throttle Position Sensor....location: Throttle Body......lulz....
So, you had the blower, and now that it is properly tuned, it is doing this? Have your tuner contact us, we may be able to help. We have seen issues like this relating to the plumbing of the bypass setup, but if this problem never persisted in the past, there may be another issue... Thanks Mike
gilgamesh i am having the same problem. after my cmr tune i am having the same hesitation. i have called diablo and they said that they have no idea what is causing it. i am taking my car back to the cmr tuner next monday for him to try to figure it out. BTW i have a new throttle body on my car and it has NOT made it go away. this hesitation was not there before the cmr tune/canned tunes. my car was hesitating even with the canned 93 cai tune.
Mike, I had the same issue along with the P0129 (Barometric Pressure) code. I have not had the throttle issue or the P0129 code since the weather has gotten warmer. We also feel that my situation has something to do with the high elevation as well. 5500' Scott (GSM) and I have discussed a fix, but I am afraid that it will need to wait until the Fall when the cold weather is back. However, if the Diablo team finds a fix before hand, that would fantastic. And yes, I too have a supercharger.
Was it dyno tuned or mail order tuned? The surging would be the fact that your long and short term fuel ADAP is not correct. Do some datalogging of that and have the tuner tweak it a little bit. Cant help you on the throttle sticking, I have never had that problem....
I would tend to agree with Mike. But it depends. From what I gather the tune file itself will contain most of the parameters for the tune. All the stuff like what goes into the fuel tables, timing, etc. What is not (apparently) contained in the tune file is the QA parameters. So it seems that the tune file may contain a "flag" for that sort of thing and the CROM implements the flagged option/parameter. So the CROM mainly just "delivers" a tune file to the PCM and sets some auxiliary control parameters. It would be nice to know what is implemented by the CROM as opposed to what's carried within the tune file. For example, I have a tune file that I've adjusted fuel for a 12.0:1 a/f on my car. I would not expect that to change from CROM to CROM (as long as the CROM can install the tune file to the car). On the other hand I believe that shift parameters like torque management, shift point, etc. are contained in the CROM. I think the tune file only contains a flag for "raised shift points". This flag indicates to the CROM that it should set the appropriate values when installing the tune. maybe?
