Just Wondering Why When I Run The 93cai Tune My Jeep Bounces Of Rev Limiter From 2nd To 3rd.anyone Else Have This Issue, and How Did You Solve It? Thnx In Advance Gerald.
Did you raise the shift points or is this only an LX thing? I'd think the rev limiter is set too low and the shift points are too close to the current setting.
If you're hitting the rev limiter in drive or in autostick with the autoupshift enabled then the rev limiter is set to low. The raised shift points on a 6.1 are 6400rpms on all shifts. I now on the earliest versions of the Pred you had to manually change the rev limit to at least 6400rpms if you selected the Raised Shift points or the tranny would hit the rev limiter. I believe the newer versions raise the rev limit automatically when you select the raised shift points option. Try and figure out where the rev limiter is set to...if its not at least at 6400 rpms then raise it by 50rpm increments until you stop hitting the rev limiter..
What version are you running on the Predator? I believe all the recent ones automatically raise the rev limiter when you select raised shift points. It give you a notification that tells you the rev limiter will be raised and then you have to confirm that. On earlier versions they were independent. If the rev limiter is already raised then follow the suggestions above to raise it in minimum increments until you stop bumping it. Use the Predator to log it first to see what's going on. If you log RPM, spark advance, and maybe throttle position you should see it. Actually I'm not sure what the PCM will report for spark advance when you hit the rev limiter. I believe it cuts off the spark when you hit the rev limiter. At the least you should see what the rpms are when it's happening. Raised shift point should be at 6400 rpm and then there will be some overshoot. If it's only happening on the 2-3 shift it implies they still have a reduced shift point for the 1-2 shift. If you start raising your rev limiter I don't think you want to go past 6700 and maybe 6650. 100 over the shift point should do it and maybe 150?
dave gives the very detailed and informative post that took a great deal of intellect to assemble..... for me, just raise the rev limiter.....lol
i got skillz brother!!!! hahahahaha actually my mods are as follows... cai hi flows exhaust cmr 180 tstat airbrushed flames on the engine bay good for 20 hp!!!! lots of paint and polished billet good for another 20hp bad azz friggin driver nothing major......
thnx for the advice,I HAVE THE 20A VERSION AND IT ONLY HITS THE REV LIMITER IN DRIVE, AUTOSTICK WORKS FINE,WILL CHECK SETTINGS VIA PREDATOR, SO I SHOULD SEE IF THEY ARE SET AT 6400.....AND AS FOR THE JEEP BINDING ISSUE I HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM.I LOVE THIS PLACE,YOU ASK A QUESTION GO TO BED AND YOU WAKE UP WITH ANSWERS,I WISH MARRIAGE WAS LIKE THIS..THNX GERALD
Gerald do you have the Auto Upshift when in autostick? I have it on mine as a TSB for the 06's and I use every time I race, it gives me better 0-60 (Dashhawk) and 1/4 mile times (slips)...1-2 tenths especially and consistantly 0-60.
Yes I Have The Auto Upshift,.i Like That, just Hata The Rev Limiter In Drive,i Will Look Into This This Week, and Thnx Again.
Sort of. If you log rpm you should see it go up over 6200 on the 2-3 shift (maybe around 6400 or over but if it goes over 6200 you know that raised shift points are set). and then see it go sort of flat if you hit the rev limiter. For the rpm graph, on a normal shift, it should peak fairly sharply and then drop off fairly sharply. When you hit the rev limiter the graph will peak and go flat or slightly dropping off for a short time and then drop off sharply like the normal shift. So sort of flattened/clipped at the top. At least that's what mine used to look like before the TSB.
