Ok Patrick, the 1 time I had my Jeep on a Mustang I recall them putting the tape on either my crank pulley or wheel(cant remember for sure)

You didnt give a opinion on where you think your gains came from ? How much do you feel is design vs numbers being multiplied due to cam.

    Thanks

If you just put headers on a stock Jeep or slightly modded Jeep there is no way to gain 25 HP, not trying to flame anybody, but its reality. The shorties are nothing short of good, the long tubes are just a little better. If you put heads and an intake on you are going to see better numbers as the headers allow them to breath a little more. Exhaust isnt that important because the stock exhaust breathes pretty well....

I'm disappointed to hear you call BS on my testing. Here I've disclosed every mod on my Jeep thus far, backed them up with before & after dyno sheets plus track times and you can't believe it? What's not to believe? Have you run American Racing headers before? The product is solid and the gains are real. As more people bolt them up, you will see similar gains to mine.

I'm not sure if you own a Jeep or an LX, but I can tell you that the Jeep manifolds are not near as good as the LX units. The Jeep manifolds have two pipes merging into 1...that's right, there are only 3 pipes going into the collector (vs 4 for the LX). This is why the 6.1L in the Jeep is rated 5 hp less than the 6.1L in the LXs. The manifolds are not THAT great. Otherwise, I would not have gained what I did.

Let's just say this is not my first rodeo in modding vehicles and I have a firm grasp of what makes more power in an engine and how to put it to the tires. I was hoping that the board would appreciate the scientific approach I've taken to document the before/after apples to apples testing. It's the only way to fight the doubters.

Patrick I believe your numbers are correct. When I put the Kooks on last year, I also was surprised at the 2 into 1 pipe. My best time without headers 13.1 (cool may evening)..with headers 12.9 on an uncorrected DA of 2550. They do make a difference that is for sure, but the sound alone is worth the price of admission IMO.

Where do I think the gains came from? Well since the only thing I changed was the headers, I'd have to say 100% of the gain came from them. If you're wondering why they gained more than others, it's probably from 2 things. One, a better design (high velocity merge collectors, smaller, higher velocity primary selection, higher flow cats) and two from my motor being more modded than others.

Were my gains larger than normal because of my cam and high flow intake? Probably. But that further validates ARH's recommendation to go with the 1 3/4" size vs. the 1 7/8" size. They told me that their design would make more power with the smaller pipes for my particular combination. Can't argue with the results. Only one change was made and it was tested before and after on the same dyno, SAE corrected, with very similar weather, tuned before and tuned after. I'm just happy I didn't waste $2k.

Settle down bro....if you re-read my post you will see that i was stating that the 25 HP was helped big time by your ported intake, and other mods as they were all good accessories. And basically saying that by just putting the AR headers on a stock Jeep isnt going to gain you 25. Its the mixture of parts you have, that made that number 25. The AR headers, the Kooks or the stainless works are all very similar. You arent going to gain a measurable amount more by going with a different manufacturer, so that is why the manufacturer wars on headers is pathetic. Congratulations on the numbers, they are numbers we have seen for years.

This is not my first rodeo either, if you check my sig it will show you I own a Jeep. I have also been around from the beginning and have seen and witnessed every modification or dyno sheet since then...

Hey Patrick anyway you guys can make it out this week to the track oddly we have a window of cool weather this week which should be comparable to your last 12.49 run, I'm not going to get into the dyno debate which is kinda pointless if you really want to make them believers (or you may really not give a poop which is your perogative) take it out this week while we have this opportunity I would like to see some 1/4 mile times-Thanks

If I could go out tonight, the weather would be great Wade. Unfortunately, I think it will warm up pretty good by Wednesday which is the first time tracks will be open. I'm going to try to make it out to the track this week. We keep getting rained out lately. Depending if I'm in Houston on Wednesday, I may go to Baytown...otherwise it will have to be San Antonio. I too am looking forward to new track times.

Lucky Bastard that is my Favorite track I need to get there soon before it really gets hot. Patrick you are correct sir tonight would be ideal to run mid to upper 50's, tomorrow night mid 60's and Wed night low 70's they should just make an exception and let people run tonite-LOL, but if you look at Weather.com it is actually cooler in San Antonio this week at night but there is the whole DA difference so what do you take cooler weather or lower DA????

Hahaha. I don't know... we're talking about 25 hp here. The CAI thing is like 5-10 hp. How much hp is your cutoff for not being a cai thread?
