The DCR crew is putting the final touches on the Red Sled to make it to the NOPI/NHRA Sport Compact Race in Florida at Moroso. This build and complete fabrication has been in progress for 12 days now and it includes the DCR 2.6L Stroker with New DCR ProLite Crank and DCR ProLite Rods with 10,000 rpm safe limits. The long block platform utilizes the A855 SRT-4 Block with the 420A Eclipse/Avenger Cylinder Head. DCR built the car with 8 seconds inside. DCR fabricated all piping with 4 inch 304 stainless steel utilizing V-band o-ring connections. The new DCR Pro Series Avenger Intake Manifold is built with the 4 Inch Inlet 80mm Accufab throttle body. It has the new 18.5 degree downdraft design and larger runners and bellmouth inlets. We are running the Borg Warner S372 "Extended Tip" hung off DCR Pro Series Turbo Manifold and feeding the 4 inch compressor outlet right into the DCR 1200hp Intercooler (built in-house). DCR designed an airbox that is going to ram air feed the turbo from the removed right front road light. This will weather seal completely to the bumper cover. Finally running it out with DCR 4 inch Exhaust. Darrell designed a newly available DCR Motor and Transmission mount to tie back to the K-frame utilizing an adjustable moly bar to preload the engine. There is no movement at all. We also added tubular control arms and lightweight brakes in the front. We are testing this week and going to Moroso this coming weekend. We addressed every aspect of the car this year. Like Darrell says, "It's fun working together with all of my guys on the Red Sled. James, Jason, Jeff, Nathan, Nubs, Jay, Clem, Barry and myself tagged teamed this and it shows. Its nice knowing that everything is done 100% in house and not dependant on nobody else. They all take pride into what they do for me and its great. I am very hard to work with sometimes but they understand why...its got to be my way. They add their touches to it and it amazes me what we ALL can do here at DCR working together. There is no I in team and everyone plays an important role to completion in every build we do. Kevin (driver- Kevin Van Natten) is going to have the fun job of driving this beast. There are many trick components that are one of a kind"
I was joking in case anybody didn't catch that. Are you guys still going after that goal? I heard the red sled was getting sold?
Ummm Good luck on the run but Moroso is now palmbeach international raceway,or something like that. They are also closed for another month for renovations..
Just an update on the "Red Sled" for the 2009 race season. We did not change anything. Darrell is making new changes at the track and everything we done last year is starting to pay off this is going to be a great year for the "Red Sled" Thanks, Nubs @ DCR
