I had to PAY 5-figures today.... :blowup: And I have NOTHING to show for it.... You guys need to bill my ex-wife. She: 1. Lives in government subsidised housing designed for single mothers (i.e. $120/mo rent). 2. Has zero percent custody of both of our kids. 3. Lives with her newest husband (who she stabbed last Christmas and is not supposed to have any contact with) and together make $100k/yr in a state with no income tax and an extremely low cost of living. Take this situation times about 10 million others doing the same thing and voila'...we all pay for her 2008 Duramax and second big screen. A couple of years ago (yes, YEARS ago) I made a couple of phone calls about this apparent disparity and it wasn't 5 minutes before my ex-wife was ringing me and telling me what a prick I was for trying to "wreck" her life. No racket going on there...
We're a tad different since we deal with the Mexican/Jamaican consulates and ship them up here legally. Many of the able bodied welfarites here in Canada (exempting Aboriginals...they have their own issues)...will NOT do this kind of work and this is fact. After all, you mostly work in fields or greenhouses, have free board, food and Sundays off not to mention free health care, yet their only concern on 'payday' is getting a cab in time to make it to the beer store or their local weed dealer. It's a sad state of affairs when one of the most sophisticated westernized nations in the world is also one faced with the highest taxation.
Complaining is not enough. Who did you vote for? Did they do your bidding? Did they represent your wishes? If not, please consider voting for someone else and remember there are more than the two big gov't parties to choose from. Choosing the lesser of two evils still gives you evils. As far as returns go, I am upset with myself for getting money back this year. That means I gave Uncle Sam an interest-free loan and my checks were smaller than they should have been. I like to owe a few hundred every year and that means my checks are bigger and Uncle Sam has given ME an interest-free loan. Adjusting your W-4 form can have less tax taken out of your paychecks.
damn curtis i want your job buddy. my uncle in oregon had to go through that. seems he wasnt paying enough taxes on his small business and the irs found out later....just double and then add a few thousand here and there to the numbers above. his children are grown though but he still pays for his ex wife i believe. i also had to pay a few thousand....and by few i mean almost 9k. im da broke again!!!
