If you can find it, collector's or show car insurance can be a real bargain. IF YOU CAN FIND IT!
Ive been searching all day and found only 2 that would write any car newer than 19 years old. I have asked every one of the rest I called why in the world they would intentionally limit their business this way, none had a reasonable answer.
American hobbiest has quoted the best so far. $714 yr. for agreed $60k value 1k ded. $804/ $500 ded.
    Haggerty wanted almost double that.\
With all the mods we are doing, it is downright dangerous to drive with standard Ins.
If your ride, like mine, is not a daily driver, garage kept you may qualify.
With a good "agreed value" policy your car appreciates rather than depreciates. All your mods are covered in full . Just as important, the other guy's insurance is put on notice that they can't expect to get away paying a depreciated value and telling you to stuff your mods. If they try, your policy must pay and subrogate.

If only more of these companys would abandon their foolish age stipulation, they would come out ahead and so would we, having more compitition.
If any of you know of other companys that will write us for show, please let me know.

these are the companies that won't:
    Grundy
    JC Taylor
    Heacock
    Leyland West
    American modern home
American Collectors- though sister company American Hobbiests will

You can get the extra coverage you need from almost any major carrier. You just have to tell the agent you need it.

Absolutely, and you can do it with a regular old insurance company.

Our modding is no different than how all companies insure conversion vans. The VIN says cargo van, but that's certainly not what the insured is trying to insure.

These kind of policy's are great and as noted alot wont cover newer cars. Some do, but the cars cannot be raced, have a roll cage, or nitrous on the car. Even if you don't take the car to the track, having any of the above will pretty much exclude the car from any collectors car insurance. Also most have mileage limits and you must prove you have another car as a daily driver. It is great coverage but it will only work if you car is only used for shows, cruise ins etc. Also a good driving record is a must, get a moving violation and you are also done.

Maybe its just here in SC, but no regular ins. co writes these, as add ons or otherwise. We have the second highest ins rate in the country and even though they are getting rich, our insurance companys are not very consumer friendly.

Call Nationwide Insurance. Ask to see the policy. Look for an exclusion for racing.

even if your regular ins company does offer some sort of rider for show cars or mods, you still have to contend with the other driver's ins co trying to pay by the normal depreciated terms when the fault is theirs. not so with an "agreed value" policy

Not true. You can always file the claim through your own insurance company. You'll be out your deductible until they collect from the other insurance, but then you'll get that refunded too when they collect.

for show cars go with classic car insurance, first the apraise your car, and they give you 2 booklet one for you to keep another for ur ins, they dont base it by reciept but by the quality of work..i believe the charge 450 and is good for 5 years
