Didn't think anyone had put one here yet. Seems like an obvious place if you don't mind drilling one hole. Someone probably already put one here and I just never found that post. My installer said that there's a little access flap in the innerfender well so you can get a nut up there.

You need to get that pic up some way other than FTP. Maybe PhotoBucket or the likes? Most people aren't going to download something like that.

I think there's a how-to somewhere for doing that sort of stuff (I should know this...).

For PhotoBucket you go to www.photobucket.com and sign up for a free account. Then you just upload the pic to photobucket (it's pretty evident how to upload from you pc on the photobucket site with browse button, etc.). Then you just copy the IMG tag and paste in your post here. After you upload a pic there are various tags and links right under it and you click on the one you want to past somewhere else. It copies it to the clipboard for you. I can't remember, but I think maybe I did some settings on PhotoBucket so it automatically resizes stuff when uploading so they fit better on the forums. It's pretty easy and well worth any effort if you do anything with pics and the internet in general.

Ummm, from that first pic you can't tell if it's hooked up right? The can should be inbetween the PCV valve down on the passenger side of the motor and where the stock tube connects to the top of the manifold. I'm assuming the braided line from the oil filler tube breather is NOT the same line that is hooked to the catch can?

err, I'll take more pics tonight. I have no clue where it should go. Thanks for the eagle eyes.

This wouldn't have anything to do with some weird wacky A/F numbers on a dyno sheet would it?

    Well... no, not technically.

The catch can is currently hooked between the oil tube breather and the air intake. That's ok but not where it's really needed.

In your first pic, from the left side of the motor, you can see the hose that comes off the PCV valve (labeled "<-PCV") and goes straight up the side of the motor to the top front of the intake manifold. The catch can should be in between there. PCV valve -> catch can -> intake manifold.

The problem we have is that a good amount of vaporized oil/liquid is sucked out of the crank case and into the manifold. This is by design but it seems we get more than usual and this condenses in the intake manifold. The function of the catch can is to condense and trap this oil before it gets to the manifold.

The way the PCV system works is that the vacuum created in the intake manifold sucks the air/vapors from the crankcase so they get burned by the engine and whatever residuals are handled by the catalytic converters. For air to go through the crankcase it has to come in somewhere. That's what the tube on the oil filler is for. Fresh air comes in there, ventilates the crankcase and is sucked into the intake manifold.

It is possible to have oil come out of the oil filler inlet tube. That could occur when filling oil and some gets in the tube or, apparently, you can sort of get a reverse "burp" when snapping open the throttle but I think that mainly occurs with forced induction engines. In either event you wouldn't expect it to be often or much.

On the other hand, the vaporized oil/liquids coming into the intake manifold from the PCV valve is constant and generally amounts to about 10 ml every 500 miles. So if you're going to have 1 catch can you would want it between the PCV valve and the intake manifold. If you wanted to be absolutely bullet proof (like clean room bullet proof) you would add a second catch can between the air inlet tube and the CAI (maybe practical if you have forced induction and have a problem with that).
